Direct injection install
Hello!
Installed refreshed direct injectors from counterspacegarage. Install was easy, almost too easy? Manifold removal was not too bad and was my first time. Pulling the injectors didn't require much force. Here's where I am confused, I placed the new injectors (left in freezer overnight) on rails and went to seat them and planned on tightening bolts little by little evenly to get them fully seated. I applied a bit of pressure to line it up and get far enough in to get the bolts started. One side fully seated with ease and I pressed the other side in with ease. Same thing on both banks of the engine. Car started and seems to run well? Is it possible to see if I boinked the new seals since it seated unevenly or would it be evidenced in how well it is running? @CSG Mike |
I haven't done this job but I'm guessing the freezer thing is to stiffen the seals so they don't ride up on the injectors when installing them. If that's the case, then it's important to seat the injectors quickly before the seals warm and soften.

My concern is when putting the rail on they initially seated like this /_ instead of like = where the bottom straight line is the block. There was almost no resistance when seating . |

I'll also stand by to hear from others who have actually done the work. :D |
Should be fine. I've unfortunately had to do this more than once but I didn't have to draw them in, they went in pretty easy. You'll know if you messed it up if you start hearing popping sounds.

It will be evident beyond a doubt if your seals are not sealing, sounds like your ports were relaxed and ready for love. Take the easy win and enjoy!

When I did the DI install on 2013 FRS, they were very snug going in even after being in the freezer for a couple of hours.
Maybe CSG has a special, proprietary spit they use for lubricant. |
Well this is certainly encouraging. I've been planning on doing this on my '13 soon.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. |
Mike from csg recommends it as preventative maintenance, IDK

Before you pull them out, figure out where you are going to have them serviced. Not many shops do direct injectors. I sent mine to Injector Pulse in Chesapeake, Va. CSG offers DI cleaning. Unless there is someone in your area that does them, plan to be without your car for a while.

When I installed mine in my IAG block all i did was put a little bit of oil on it like the manual said and then popped them in with a wood block behind it.
