My BRZ ST* Autocross build
Ok...so I am first in line at my local dealer to buy a BRZ..
can't wait...went to Detroit..and Chicago to get/see info on the BRZ/FRS First off...Fairly impressed with most things on the BRZ...I Plan to AutoCross it Nationally with James Wilson and Christy Carlson in whatever ST Class it falls in.....It seems that I will be one of the first to try and make this thing competitive..I have lots of backing to ensure its competitiveness... *Kartboy *Grimmspeed *Nameless Exhuast components *Vorshlag/AST *Whiteline *SubyDude and a couple of others to fill in the gaps... Chances are...this car is 'probably' going to C Stock ...and ST R or X depending on how it drives when the SAC drives it... I think it will be competitive in either class. What we know: -Late Model WRX Rear Suspension, Where Rear Sways and Coilovers should be no problem bolting right up. what we don't know...is what the front Suspension will have, stock, for adjustment ..guess we will find out. -5x100 boltpattern....be that as it may...deal with it... most likely choice for wheels for me....17x9 with a 42 offset should fit the bill nicely. -Starting off with a mild 245/40/17 tire to begin with (HanKook R-S3's) Class rules will allow a 255 in STR and 265 in STX...that should fill in the wheelwells -Subaru and Scion are bragging about the handling of this Platform...I will make it better. AST Dual Adjustable Suspension with Camber plates are in the Plan...the big Question is Spring rates...probably will start off with a 10k front and a 6k rear... -Weight is 2762 lbs seems to be advertised weight...plan is to get it down to about 2600 in race trim including getting rid of the rear muffler altogether and just putting a turndown or a kick on it for weight reduction.. -Torsion Rear LSD..Will be changed out to OSGiken 1.5 Custom Mechanical LSD -Steering is Rear Steer vs. Front Steer normally found on Subaru...so when you add camber....usually it toes' out the alignment...for general purposes...now. with the rear steer it should toe 'in'...sooo physical alignment will now become the norm at events...we'll see Purposed Mods: 2013 BRZ Limited (yes with all the goodies...for resale value later) AST RaceComp Suspension 10k front, 6k rear Whiteline Adjustable Swaybars 17x9 43 offset Wheels 245/40/17 Hankook R-S3's (Already have) Frt Camber plates OS Giken 1.5 Mech LSD Lightweight Front Seats...maybe TRD Recaro option Stainless brake lines Motul Fluids That would Get me started... thoughts??? door Stiffeners..I like... http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...4/AY0F9618.jpg http://cdn.speedhunters.com/wp-conte...4/AY0F9622.jpg But it was actually the door stabilizer that impressed me the most. It’s a very simple upgrade, so simple that most would have probably never though about it. The idea behind it is to use the door as a stiffening implement, so that once it closers it slides this spring-loaded metal section behind the lock grab… …against this teflon-like plastic part on the door itself. This pushes the door slightly against its hinges further stiffening up the chassis. The result is a better and more direct steering feel though the corners. Every little helps as they say, and TRD have actually patented this little gadget. I Likey..http://brzpost.com/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png.... makes sense and would appear to be an inexpensive worthwhile mod... I WILL be using this little device on my ST* Build..http://brzpost.com/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png Some things are from some previous threads...just merged them all so everyone can see the progress...:) Enjoy Bill |
Why 10/6 springs? Assuming you mean 10F/6R isn't the different motion ratios of the struts up front and multi-link in the back going to move it away from neutral and more to the understeer side of things?

This car has struts in the front. The difference is in the linkage's leverage that gets applied to the springs. So 8/8 on a strut/wishbone setup is not proportionally the same as 8/8 on a wishbone/wishbone setup. E36 and later BMW guys will probably be able to help better. |
According to RCE, stock spring rates are equal front and rear (185#). At the very least, I would think you would want to maintain the equal rates, perhaps even tending towards slightly stiffer in the rear. Miatas and S2Ks use very different suspension designs and the spring rates you received are meaningless for this application.
What is your previous Autocross experience? |
