So, spoiler alert, for once the answer isn't Miata.

Not a completely unfair comparison, but the results were pretty much to be expected.

TBH I'm just glad Mazda hasn't decided to completely pull the plug on the Miata given the direction the company has been going so far.

Love the Miata, just love the 86 a bit more :)

It’s a little sad that Mazda sought to address the body roll problem with the 2022 models but apparently didn’t do a great job. They should stop futzing around and just include stiffer roll bars on the brembo/bbs package.

Also it’s kind of perplexing that Mazda built a DI 2.0L engine with 13:1 CR that revs to 7500 rpm but can’t hit 200 hp.

200 hp, 2400 lbs Miata with sportier suspension would be amazing.

I remember reading the MX-5/86 comparison in evo magazine at least a year ago and the 86 took that one, so it's no surprise the GR86 also took it

Im sure they can hit 200hp but maybe it will have a torque dip ;)

And still have that ridiculous body roll.

Mazda says they left the body roll for more fun at slower speeds, maybe they should add a torque dip for the top end drama ;) Torque dip vtec, yo!

Haha apparently that's the joy of it. I mean we all know top-heavy minivans are the epitome of handling fun.

The torque dip should balance out the roll.

Hit the torque dip at peak roll and it'll slow down enough that it'll give the impression of levelling off...thus reducing the roll!

Get on it Mazda!
Make Miata Great Again!

Apparently a hybrid. I know. Makes me want to throw up also 👍

It kinda has to, no? Mazda will go out of business if they don't start electrifying their lineup.
