1) What an odd random post

2) You mean the release series 1?

2) It depends where you look:

A majority I've found are under 20k...

Yep. After insurance wrote me a check for my totaled FR-S, I was searching the country for a manual RS 1.0, and majority were still $20k+, with the occasional higher mileage one around $18k. Ended up settling for a used Series.Yellow for a great price (which turned out to be a better decision for me).

Now you can't really find a manual RS 1.0 for under $20k -- they are also infrequently listed for sale.

I'm sure it will be a future collectible spec. ;)

Correct, RS1 and RS2 in manual . 1500 total RS1's produced, 1000 total RS2's produced. Not to be biased or anything. The RS2 , from what I've checked / researched , is at some percentage less then half of the total number of RS2's produced were manuals, and Autos turn up way more frequently on the used market.

I'd think the same goes for the Series Blue BRZ ( all 1000 roughly were manual), and Hyper Blue BRZ , but I haven't researched those enough to know the full scoop.

why? 08-07-2018 07:01 PM

Not really, subaru has a hard time selling off the series cars to begin with, then you can usually find super low mileage examples a year later for 5k or more off msrp. Although it does look like the value might have gone up slightly, I doubt anyone would be offering me $20k for my car.

Weren't Series Blue MSRP at about $31k ? I believe RS1 was same price. Then RS2 , and Hyper Blue 2016 , came down in price closer to $29.5k

Real value increases, are about 8-12 years away, clean… clean examples

Automatic 86s are almost always going to sell for less than a respective example with a manual transmission

I'm not surprised the RS1 still demands a premium, it was a unique color and also came with a unique TRD kit. It was one of the most optioned out special edition FRS/86 that you could buy in the States

Wait - from reading this forum I thought The Twins had terrible resale value???

Do we have great resale value now? How did this happen???

Cause $4k+ USDM TRD body kit.

I think if you try and get the parts individually from a dealership it ends up being > $8k. :confused0068:

Btw, if you lose a RS1 tow hook cover, don't expect to walk into a dealership and get one... you have to purchase the entire $2400 rear bumper. This happened to one of my neighbors with a RS1.

I'd think "terrible resale value" , coincides with if the vehicle has any combination of the following : auto tranny ( in general Manual is the desired transmission on this vehicle) , high milage , lower condition ( something under excellent condition, as KBB states) , and the region that you are selling the car in (not all states / counties result in equal values for a specific car model year/condition / milage. I'd think a state that has snow/ice , and/or possibly sea side (rust will eat metal) would have a lower value. A car in CA / Arizona/ Nevada wouldn't get hit value wise as bad. Yes, there is snow in CA in mountain / upper elevations , but for 99% of CA no snow.

Don't forget the exclusive quad TRD exhaust...not sure how much that goes for MSRP.

Not sure if the trims actually make much of a difference.

I had a 2006 Corolla XRS for 9 years and after I rear ended someone (right off a stop light so it wasn't anywhere near hard enough to deploy airbags, but hard enough to cause damage).

Damaged the front end, and it was actually written off for around 6600 dollars (I think the repair cost more than the car's worth at this point) The amount I got was actually more than I thought I would get (I was expecting around 5k or less)

Im hoping the resale of the twins would be as good as this but I don't think it will be. Im not sure how the release series changes the resale either. My Corolla was the XRS trim, only available for 2 years and only available in stick. It didn't seem to do much of anything to the resale. Then again the XRS trim does show up in those black book/blue book listings so any additional value is probably already taken into account.
When I look for the Scion FRS it only shows up as "base" trim.
