Need help with aftermarket wheels
 

I'm looking into aftermarket rims and I'm having a hard time choosing. I was wondering if I have to change my stock suspensions before adding a new set of rims. What I want is 18x8.5 for both front and rear. I just don't know how wheel offset works. I don't want to run to any trouble when upgrading my break kit too because that something I would want to do down the line. I use the car as a daily so I want something reliable I would also like to avoid rubbing and scrubbing. If you guys have any good advice about this and what offset should I be looking at. Cheers

that depends a lot on the size of the tires, as well as the offset of the wheels.

i think you should be safe with 18x8.5 wheels as appropriately sized tires for that width wheel shouldn't have any rubbing issues on stock suspension. It's when you go with 9.0-9.5 and wider tires that you will have to make camber adjustments

Yeah I'm looking into having a flush set up. Does it mean I'll have to hey different offset for the rear? And different for the front?

You can probably use up to 3mm wheel spacers with stock wheel studs safely.

Welp, I suggest you leave your car's wheels and tires alone, to best achieve your objective.

What would you suggest I start with? I’m new to the car modding scene. But I really wanna get that kind of wheel set up but I wanted to do it properly. If coilovers would help I would even start with that. But I have no idea where to begin

i start with narrowing down the type of style i prefer-- mesh or # of spokes, color, dish/flat face. figure out what wheels are even available in the style/finish you like, figure out which brands make a quality wheel in that style, and then work backwards to what sizes are available by that mfg, in your country, and in stock, or available for made-to-order or pre-order, and not some obscure site that says everything's in stock but will reject and refund any orders after placing the order for stuff that can't be ordered...

for example, rota's really good on their japanese site at saying they make every one of their wheel designs in any bolt pattern in any of a thousand sizes, and any of a thousand offsets, but you'll never find more than 5-10 of any styles in a specific size in only a few offsets that are actually available to order from american distributors.

So first question is why are you changing the wheels? Is it just a style thing? Are you looking to improve performance? What are your priorities, in order? Just to give folks an idea of what tradeoffs you are willing to accept.
