Toyota 1.8l 2ZZGE
Didn't see this swap before:
http://racingbazar.com/de/racecars/o...-attack-205032 Engine is probably about 60 kg lighter than stock, rpm is higher (transmission deals with less torque in comparison) and max power (turboed) is probably about the same. |
I loved that engine in my old Celica. I can't believe someone swapped it in this chassis. I wish we had gotten a 2.0L version of it.

That's fucking amazing.
|
That's a bit of power out of that little mill.
|
I feel like a K20 would be better, but it is cool to see a Toyota engine in there.

people have done absolutely bonkers things with the 2zz's in the Lotus. Someone even twin charged one. Power claims ranged from 400-800 depending on where you find the info. https://youtu.be/HmscSzFurwg |
I've always thought about the 2zz in our car. Engine swapping something that is less powerful seems silly unless you have mad expendable cash though. Sure, if I had infinite money, mine would have a 2zz or a 3s-GTE. can't stand Subaru engines

Nothing wrong with a very unique build. imo |
FWIW
The reason why they selected a Toyota engine is probably related to the racing regulations. When an engine is swapped one can only use an engine from the same brand. |
Ronin's lotus was a beast! Interesting that they swapped a 2ZZ motor into the 86.

Would be interested in seeing how they set this up if anybody still has pictures? 2zzge is, IMO, the best sounding 4-cylinder out there. |

we fabbed up custom mounts to the E153 trans that was used. |
