North Texas Autocross Thread

I have been searching for a thread on this forum relating to this topic. Could not find one in the regional forums or the tracking/autocross sections.

I decided to start this here because I find it useful to know what's going on around you and there are plenty of events in the DFW area alone to keep busy with autocross. When I had my WRX I was on NASIOC and there was a similar thread that was very useful.

So post the events you'll be attending, photos, videos, results, whatever. Mostly just good to keep people in the know.

If you haven't seen this before check it out for a detailed calendar of local events:
http://dfwautocross.com/

Some local clubs:
Equipe Rapide (ER) Sports Car Club
Lone Star Chapter BMW Car Club of America (LSCBMWCCA) (all makes welcome)
North Texas Autocross Series (NTAXS)
The Porsche Club of America (PCA) Maverick Region (all makes welcome)
Texas Region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)

I have yet to take out the BRZ but I'm signed up for the NTAXS event on April 19th. Very excited! If you frequent these events I look forward to meeting some of you guys out there. If not, start! It's a fun and cheap way to test the limits of your car. SCCA is a great, relaxed club for noobies to start with, but really any club will welcome/help you if you say you're new.

Hope to see some of you guys this year!

I was also thinking about going to TMS on the 19th. Hope to see you there. WRB BRZ

Wish I could make it to that one. I was offered tickets to the motogp in Austin this weekend, and I just couldn't turn them down. Good luck!

I am a noob to autox especially these clubs, but do I need to have some form of racing licensee to join, say NTAXS?

Thanks

You need a car that is in good running condition and a driver's license. I have seen 30+ year old wagons at events, and the driver was still smiling like a crazy person. They have loaner helmets at most events too, but having your own is always a plus.

Side note: NTAXS event on the 19th is already full.

Awesome thank you. Are there different classes for novices? I've been to PCA events at MSR but I haven't talked to any members.

SCCA has a specific novice class. It's a PAX based class meaning you get put up against all sorts of different cars (slower and faster) and your standing is based on your time basically plugged into an equation based on what you are driving. Different cars have different multipliers. I haven't been to another club with a novice class.

You guys missed out today! Ntaxs event was a blast. Fast course with lots of slalom. Hung in there with the little miatas somehow, I finished 4th out of 17. First event in the brz. What a fun car to autox in.

Had to work this Saturday. Might be able to make it out to the next event for NTAXS. Been waiting for the next SCCA event. Even in the rain the last one was still fun.

Im about to be installing koni yellows, hotckis front sway and factory crash bolts.. hoping to max out the camber in front, but does anyone have any experience with the konis? The car should be pretty competitive in CS, final thing is to destroy the stock tires so I can justify buying some sticky rubber.

There is a Equipe Rapide autocross this Sunday at Lone star Park in Grand Prairie.

There were 4 twins present last autocross. If your fast, you may get a T-shirt or money back !

Who is coming to the SCCA event this Sunday? I'll be in CSP.

Haven't been in a while so I'm really looking forward to it! I saw a few frs/brz on the entry list, anybody on here?
