Winter in SoCal

Hey Everyone,

This is going to be my first fall/winter in SoCal (Moved here in February.)

Will I need to get some all season or winter tires for my FR-S? :iono:

Advice appreciated! :happy0180:

You will be dealing mostly with rain. I live up in NorCal and I"ve always run summer tires on my car year round. If heading to the snow a lot you'll want to get some all seasons, or if you get new rims you can mount all season or snow tires on the stocks for when you do head up to the snow.

Ahahahahah....

I thought this was a joke thread.

You're in LA. Don't sweat it. I run summer tires year round and it gets worse up where I'm at. Just avoid fjording any large puddles in LA if it gets flooded, which happens occasionally.

More importantly, watch out for everyone else. Too many folks out here can't drive in inclement weather. Totally clueless.

it never rains here mostly in the end of December it does.

If your in the LA area, then you'll be fine. At the most, we'll get rain. But the weather is usually pretty good out here.

And with that, welcome to SoCal! :happy0180:

Definitely watch out for the people who suddenly "forget" how to drive when it's raining.
But no, you don't need to get new tires for the Winter :bellyroll:

Agree with the rest just worry about the other drivers thats all

What the fuck is a winter?

We have 2 seasons. Hot and not so hot. Unless you plan on going to big bear you will be fine.

summer tires year round ftw. it might rain a couple of times but its nothing compared to other parts of the US. We make the first drizzle of the year a storm watch event.

travace 09-25-2012 10:25 AM

don't worry about silly things like seasonal tires... the weather is why we pay the big bucks to live here

Technically, I've seen temps in the upper 30's very early mornings. Use care on the summer tires with temps under 40 degrees, but I've always run summer tires year round here without issue.

I'm on summer tires all year long. :D

But if you plan on going up to the mountains in the winter, I suggest getting some all-seasons. Hit me up if you need tires. I also sell aftermarket parts too.
