Fitment Question Asap please

Wondering if 18x9 +33 235/45 fit onto stock suspension with a 1.4 inch drop? Im aware of the poke but concerned about rubbing.

18x9 +33 is a great size! You will not rub on the suspension! You will want some camber in the front though. One set of camber bolts is enough to look good. Cheap too!

You do not want a 235/45/18, it is WAAAY to tall. 225/40, 235/40, or 245/35 are your options.

If you're not worried about the poke, then do it and then get spacers if it touches the spring perch

Bet bro haha, Im buying some cosmis racing xt206r used. They have almost bald tires on em haha 235/45. Probably end up switching them out for 225/40 or 45. I just wondering now if im overpaying for them haha.
3 wheels have slight curb nicks.

What is the asking price?

Also, 225/45 is too tall. Even a 235/40 is too tall at 3.3% larger than OEM diameter, but it will work. It is outside the 3% plus or minus the OEm diameter, that is the general rule of thumb for going up or down in tire size.

A 235/45/18 is 6.9% larger or 26.3" tall!!!

215/45/17 is 24.6" diameter (OEM tire)
225/40/18 is 25.1" diameter
235/40/18 is 25.4" diameter
245/35/18 is 24.8" diameter

It's pretty simple math. Take the width and multiply by .xx (xx being the sidewall height). That number is the percentage of the width that the tire will be tall. 45 is 45%

Not to say that Leonardo isn't great; he's a great resource!

Thank You!!! The online calculator is pretty good. I am old school though. I have played with my suspension, height, wheels, tires, and camber. I have real world experience on what will fit on a FR-S/BRZ OEM Body. Granted my experience is with "regular" type setups. Not super aggressive, widebody, or extreme camber. But, I do my best at understanding the math.

I have ran all these tire on 7 different wheel combinations. I was on springs, then coils too.

215/45/17
225/45/17
245/40/17
215/40/18
225/40/18
245/35/18

Anyway, the math is very calming for my brain. Thanks again!

Edit: after 4 staggered setups. I am 100% sold on SQUARE being the BEST!

I think ima run 235/40 on 18x8.5 +35
Or should I run 225/40. Sorry I'm a tire noob lmao. Stretch lowkey scares me because the roads here are shitty

FYI I'm running 235/40 on 18X8.5 +35mm with a 1" drop on lowering springs and it's perfectly flush with camber bolts (1.8 front). No issues clearing the stock suspension. I made my choice last year with the help of this great community and the "Wheel it fit" thing.

Just keep in mind that since these tires are a little bigger than stock diameter, your speedo should be a little off with 235/40, but it's really no big deal for a DD and you'll gain about 1/4" of ground clearance which is VERY useful. The main thing is that the 18X8.5 +35mm is probably the best fit on stock struts, so you're on a good path...

If the speedo is an issue for you, just go with 245/35/18 since it's the closest to stock diameter, as you can see on previous posts.

As a bonus, with your 1.4" drop and these bigger tires, there will be no more fender gap on your car!! :happyanim:

Yooo I didnt even know you could throw off the speedo. Is there a way to fix that lmao. I found a good deal off a friend for some 235/40/18s ;(( Also does the stock tpms system fit onto aftermarket wheels haha

About the speedo, it's the theory that says that with the 235/40 should indicate 100km/h while I'm really doing a little more than 103km/h. But in reality, every radar screen that I've past in a year indicated the exact same speed as my speedo (for what it's worth). And when I got a speeding ticket on cruise control, it was 105km/h on the speedo and the same thing on the ticket itself. A 90km/h zone became a 70km/h zone and a cop was hiding just in between.:bs:

So maybe the ECU learned and compensate or it's just good/bad luck...:iono:

Either way, that's my point when saying it doesn't really matter and the improved ground clearance makes it well worth it IMO.

About the TPMS, I have those on my wheels and I think they can be installed on any wheels, but other members might give us more info about that.

I also heard the stock ecu reads higher than what you're actually doing but idk haha. My speedo is digital so idk if i might be able to tell or not

Leonardo 02-19-2020 02:24 PM

The speedo does not compensate or correct it's self. (how could it? it does not know the car's actual speed!)
