Wind Buffeting

Noticed the wind buffeting on the highway with the windows down. Even noticed its worse with the rear seats down.

Anyone know if there is anyone working on or selling a part we can attach next to the mirror to remove the buffeting?

How about these?

I'm having the same issue with my 86. Supra has the same issue. Wonder if someone will make a similar product for our cars.

I find there is wind buffeting with both windows down starting at 80km/h (50mph).
Was this the case with the Gen 1 as well?

i presume Cobra-style wind wings would look out of place...

A friend of mine sold his 2022 BRZ exactly because of wind buffeting.

He primarily used his BRZ for track events at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports racetrack, and he told me the wind buffeting was horrible.

He told me that the track requires helmets be worn and that both windows be down while driving on the track. At higher speeds, he said the buffeting was unbearable and was giving him terrible headaches.

He sold the car and is now looking for a Lotus Elise to replace his BRZ.

If it's that bad I'm sure AWE will make a fix for it, like they did for the Supra:

I ride with both windows down in my gen 1 without experiencing the buffeting noise. I did have some light items fly out the window though.

Someone recommended me these $10 door edge protectors that the Supra people use to deal with the issue:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Stick them on that little seal section on the front triangle window. Anything that introduces a small face sticking into the wind should work also.

Windows down at 60-70 is now fine whereas it used to be horrible over 50.

Can you take a picture that shows how you stuck it on? Thanks!

With the windows open at 50, my back seatbelts start flapping on the back seat surround.

I've just ordered these, and will also provide some further feedback after installation.

Did you notice any extra wind noise at highway speeds with the windows up?

I also tried out those same door edge guards. Definitely helped, but didn't completely get rid of the buffeting. I'm satisfied. If someone comes up with an engineered piece, I'll probably buy it.

DarkSunrise 06-04-2022 12:18 PM

Yeah I noticed it too at around 50 mph. I'm sure someone will release a product soon given how frequently these cars are tracked.
