What Sway Bars Work Best For You?
Just curious what everyone’s been liking for the track?
I’m running Perrin 22mm front SBs and stock rears but I’m running into understeer (I’m sure there’s driver error too). Thinking of going back to the stock fronts. |
This is a boring answer but I have the stock bars front and rear. Seems fine to me.
I'm using RCE SS1s. |
hotchkis adjustables. With lowering springs and sticky tires the stockers just didn't cut it for me

Driver inputs, tires, and alignment are going to play huge roles in mitigating understeer.

Depends on your driving style, habits, and other car setup.
Generally speaking if you touch only the swaybar, you get a stiffer rear bar to address front understeer. Adding a stiffer front bar to an understeering car will make understeer worse |
We've used OEM 18 front 14 rear, Whiteline 20 front 16 rear, Whiteline 22 front 16 rear, Whiteline 20 front stock rear, RCE 25.5 front and 18 rear (hollow, so really 22 front 16 rear).
All can work well depending on the rest of the suspension, the tires, and the application. - Andrew |
double post. this forum has some issues lately amirite?

Good alignment will do wonders for understeer, lots run 22mm sway up front with success but if the rest of the suspension is stock then I'd guess the 22mm bar is over kill and you'll benefit from going softer.

I personally ran a Perrin 22mm before up front with Mann Engineering Rear bar. Now I have a Karcepts Front Bar. I like adjustability |
The more spring you have, the less bar you need. Auto-x'ers and casual track tend to be softly sprung and use more bar, race cars are a lot stiffer and need less bar.
I'm on 700/900# springs, and only need a 20mm front, 16mm rear bar setup. Works perfect, same size as TMG racing cars in Germany. |
Because I have Coilovers 5k Fr, 5k R and my car is ~450 lighter I went with softer Sways from Cusco. Helps the suspension to act more independently.
If I were to go larger I would consider the Tanabe Sustec which are only a hair heavier than stock due to material and hollow |

Stock is 2.3K Fr, 3.3K R. So stiffer but not too stiff. |
