oil for FRS
I'm about to change oil on the FRS. Since I'm not going to the dealer ( free visits are over:) Was going to switch to Mobil One synthetic 0W-20. Also want to use upgraded filter Any thoughts? Mahalo!

Use a 0w-20 unless the car is tracked or FI

Okay my thoughts are get mobile 1's high end product like the extended performance. Use a cusco or OEM for filter. bypass valve pressure is important and most filters are less then OEM. |

Zero problems, use what ever oil you want. "Performance" filter is just a a few bucks more. Can't beat OEM filter prices though. $7 vs $9+ for "performance" filters. Your call.

Use an OEM filter, especially if still under powertrain warranty and not modded in such a way that they can kill a warranty claim in the future. Use 0W-20 or even 5W-30 given the persistent heat here if you drive hard or do SCCA events (this is actually a recommendation in your manual for extreme conditions).
I ran Mobil-1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 before I went FI but it's just personal preference. |
