KMA KiCKz's OEM+ Build ☜(゚ヮ゚☜)
Hello everyone!! Thanks for taking a gander at my daily driver build that occasionally wanders the vast canyon roads of the Bay Area. This is the progress of my 2015 Scion FR-S (Est. January 2015) Current State: https://i.imgur.com/O5y0jDP.jpg 2015: https://i.imgur.com/0KCNmzp.jpg Interior:

=============================================== After owning this car for many years so far, I learned to truly appreciate this platform. Of course many would say that this car is "lacking power" but I'd say its plenty for me. The handling and feel of this platform is amazing as stock. When paired with better suspension and stickier tires, boooiii does this handle like a dream. As my daily driver, it makes mundane commutes much more enjoyable. For now, it is my daily driver that occasionally hits back roads/canyon roads but I hope to bring it to racetracks, perhaps starting with AutoX. I have learned a lot from this amazing piece of machinery and hope to keep it for the longevity of its life. Hopefully I remember to check back to this page to keep y'all updated on my build! =============================================== First Day Picked Up (January 2015): https://i.imgur.com/an5vjly.jpg99 FUN FACT: After just 6 days of ownership, I got rear-ended by a police officer due to him being on his phone. There wasn't a lot of damage, just a crack in the bumper and broken reverse light housing. I was heartbroken but the car was still in great shape. Thank goodness the cop covered the whole thing. Rear-Ended Count: 3 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rear-ended by cop on his phone 1/26/2015 Rear-ended by friend 7/20/2020 Rear-ended by teenager on her phone 11/3/2022 |
love this build. Super OEM and clean!

Looking good with those wedsports on
|
Yours is nicely setup
But please tell the owner of the silver to adjust his ride height and what not - all kinds of suspension and alignment problems have probably started on that one, not to mention it looks lame as hell |

Trust me, I've told him  He prefers the "low life" and he's happy with it so whatever floats his goat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |
Took more photos with the car cleaned and sunny weather https://i.imgur.com/HZxDZ8e.jpg https://i.imgur.com/8kqkBKC.jpg https://i.imgur.com/XooIAI3.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tDOwYsp.jpg |
UPDATE
Finally installed my JDM headlights after having them sit for almost a year lol The reason it took so long was because i've been putting off the rewiring since they are JDM spec. A member here was selling a harness that made it pretty much plug and play. Jumped on it ASAP and finally got them on. Definitely one of my favorite mods! I also did a full LED/HID 6000k conversion for exterior lighting (high beams, fog lights, switch back turn signals & relay, side marker lights). https://i.imgur.com/0odYqmz.jpg I removed this resistor since it can effect the LED strip and possibly ruin the headlight itself. https://i.imgur.com/R0eBw9z.jpg Before: https://i.imgur.com/K4SEtY8.jpg After: https://i.imgur.com/RUmYoMb.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oEDbcpn.jpg Since these are JDM, the LED strip doesn't work as DRL's but it works with the high beam for regular night driving. Start at 0:49 for example https://youtu.be/aIaY7hOk0CM?t=49 |
UPDATE
Got new tires to replace current balding set.
Replaced Dunlop Direzza ZII's for Dunlop Direzza ZIII's, same size of course. Pulled the trigger on a Nur Spec Front Lip and TRD Side Skirts via @nigel-jdmparts. Will update y'all once it comes in! :happyanim: |
UPDATE
Here's a part that I thought I wouldn't get since it's a little expensive but there was a deal too good to pass up. \( ̄▽ ̄)/ https://i.imgur.com/Nf7YhuU.jpg Picked up the updated 2017+ traction control buttons. I always thought the checkered flag looks better than the 2013-2016 buttons. These were direct plug-n-play with no issues. Nothing but an aesthetic purpose imo. https://i.imgur.com/pMgkGx8.jpg I also did some basic maintenance: - Oil change (Every 5k miles) - Oil filter - Air filter One thing I feel that is usually overlooked imo is the cabin air filter. I usually change these every 6 months, depending if I use my A/C frequently. I prefer having the windows down and listen to the sweet sounds of my exhaust but the gf insists on having the windows up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also put a dryer sheet to make the A/C smell real noice too :) In the photo it shows a weird discolored shape due to the previous dryer sheet shifting a little. https://i.imgur.com/zf5eBtk.jpg That is all the updates for now. Still waiting on the front lip and side skirts to come in! |
Have you installed the motion control beams? Can you tell they do anything?

I've had them on the car for about a week so far and I have noticed a difference. It's not a big difference but still noticeable. This video sums up the benefits of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9gHan2R9tQ |
UPDATE
Kit finally came in after 3 months of waiting :happyanim: So happy to source out the Nur Spec lip since it was rumored that it was difficult to obtain due to being discontinued for a few years. Not sure why Toyota didn't offer this in the U.S. but I guess it'll make my car stand out more from the crowd. It came with a crap load of push clips and screws but no instruction manual. Fortunately it was straight forward and had a fellow 86 buddy give me some pointers to install it ease. Needed a little bit of TLC but it fit like a glove. The TRD Side Skirts weren't too difficult. They came with instructions too and were straight forward. I'd recommend having someone help you but doing it by yourself is doable. https://i.imgur.com/yCIwF1p.jpg https://i.imgur.com/7MTohmc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1I2Zkei.jpg |

Love the Nur Spec front!
