Rear Sway Bar Bracket Bolt Size

Anyone know what size the rear sway bar bracket bolts are approximately? I know they are part number SU003-00015 but can't find an actual size. I'm looking for the ones that are circles in this image: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7335/...1f561e91_o.jpg

I made the same mistake as highlighted in this post and this video. So now I need to replace the bolts and fit some additional nuts behind them. I'd like to get as close as possible to the original OE size bolt when I replace it.

I believe they are 8X1.25, probably about 25mm long.

What size socket fits on the bolt head and are they OE? @rns294

You can just get something roughly the right length from the hardware store to get you going and drop by the dealership and get actual replacements later

A 12mm fits the OE bolt. I looked up the size of an M8x1.25 and I believe that is the correct size or at least very close to it.

I was planning to just get a replacement from a hardware store but I wanted to get a bolt that was roughly the same size/pitch for the sake of strength.

Whatever the size, make sure its 10.9 rated.

If MSG is correct these would work

You probably have some vestigial threads left in the original captive nut(s). Cleaning those out with a drill will make the reassembly easier.

That's correct. JIS 12mm Head Bolts correspond to an M8x1.25 thread pitch. For the sake of a temporary replacement, get the highest grade strength bolt you can get from hardware store.

Order a direct replacement from Toyota/Subaru and that will get you what you want. It's a lot more work to sieve through the repair manual to pull the grade up.
