Factory Roof Rack?
I know opinions will vary about the aesthetics of roof racks, but I need a way to carry snowboards, bikes, etc. people! So, since Subieyota decided to not make this a hatch, I need a roof rack or hitch :(
I'd rather not use a hitch since it adds weight. So... Anyone know if this thing is going to have factory roof rack points? I assume they would be under the weather stripping like typical subaru rack points, so someone want to go peek under that weather stripping for me?!? I imagine it'll be difficult to use an aftermarket "around the roof / in the door" rack with the door / roof design of the 86. |
Not sure this is the best car option for someone with an active lifestyle. Do you have another car you could use?

1) room for my dog (hurray "back seats" on the 86!) 2) room for an occasional bike / snowboard / etc. 3) room for myself and a passenger. If they messed up roof racks on the 86, then I suppose I'm in the market for a used Z3. |

This is a really good question. I think that it's a great opportunity for Subaru/Toyota to show the versatility of the car. Subaru certainly has enough experience in racks and I'd honestly be surprised if it came without mounting points. I could definitely see throwing my bike and a friend's on the roof, putting some gear in the back, and driving to a race. Although it may not be the purest 'outdoor lifestyle' vehicle, I certainly see lots of people at races who seem to have interests in both bikes and cars. I think it's just a general mechanical interest.
Anyways, theories aside, I'd love to see mounting points! |

Tow Bar?
Now I know this car is not SUV but there are times when one needs to tow extras to the track or around home uses.
I won't put 4 wheels in the cabin. It would be nice to fit the type that when you remove the goose neck there is no visual sign of the ugly thing. |

I'm with you man. I've already determined that the max Ski/Snowboard length will be between 160 and 170CM. The 180s will have to fit between the front seats. I think you'll be able to do 170 cm on a diagonal.
I just went skiing with my 1990 NA Miata yesterday. 162cm fit in the passenger seat perfectly with my boot bag. The tips just touch the soft-top. I had one of the hitch style bike racks and they are much better for mountain biking. Much easier to mount the bike, more stable, and "cleaner". I'd recommend that for cycling. Rear wheel drive sports cars are epic in snow. All you need is winter tires and then it's "Durifto!" |

im sure subaru will offer something. but factory roof racks tend to be a lot more expensive. im also sure some mounts that fit your impreza/legacy/outback will also fit.
