Blue coolant? Jeez, manufacturers seem to have all the colors of the rainbow when it comes to coolant... Green, red, pink, yellow, now blue?

Yup - Its a Subaru thing I am told. :iono:

The blue coolant is the Subaru's supercoolant that they started using starting back in 08/09.

DO NOT MIX WITH ANY OTHER COOLANT!

1st replacement interval is 11 years/137,500 miles (220,000 km).
2nd replacement interval is 6 years/ 75,000 miles (120,000 km) after the 1st.

If you mix the coolant with other coolant though, you will be back in 30 months/30,000 miles (48,000Km) interval.

does the subaru brz need the subaru coolant additive ?

The color determines it's chemical compound, FYI.

The answer is yes, the chemicals in it help keep the head gaskets in good working order. If you mix and match the coolant then you have to put the conditioning stuff in your coolant every 30000 miles when you change coolant.

Is this good for any Toyota motor? Or just the FRS/BRZ?
