What will happen to her now?

I have been on this forum since 2016 lurking and finally made an account awhile back to get some parts from other members. I never made a post, wanted to but never got around to sitting down and doing it. And I’m sad to say that my first post is one of utter sadness. I bought my 10 series used in 2016 with 12,000 miles from Subaru Glendale, it was so fun bone stock. First thing I did was take her to the 33. Squealing the turanza stock tires. I kept it stock because I was making payments and couldn’t afford anything more than some winmax W2 pads and k&n air filter. She stayed that way until I got better sport comp 2 tires. Drove her like hell. Took care of her. Fast forward to this past 6 months. I was able to get some PP struts and installed those but couldn’t utilize the car because I couldn’t afford the tires I wanted, being dumb. So they were bald a f. Showing wire on 3 tires. Then I came across some Koni yellows on lowering springs and installed those. And finally this January I purchase the Pilot Sport 4s tires and had them installed. Last Friday I ordered Winmax W3 pads and new rotors. Big bill. Yet to install. Getting ready for summer and first track day it corona allows it. If not then I love the 33 and Malibu’s canyons anyway. Well, Saturday my Dad and brothers came over for drinks and to hang out for my birthday on Sunday. The plan was to drink, eat, and work on my Dad’s 1972 Chevelle. I had just purchased a new To me intake manifold and 4 barrel carb to put on it. so Saturday we spent the time cleaning the used intake and carb so that on Sunday my dad and I could install them on the car. Closed up the house for the night, chevelle in the driveway and FRS in the street, sent my brothers home. My dad stayed in the guest room. Everything was fine, mother-in-law did her nightly lockdown of the house.Wake up Sunday, come downstairs and open up the garage, the chevelle is completely gone, not in the driveway, not on the street. No where. And somehow the FRS was parked crooked in the driveway, but it had damage to the driver side wheels and front quarter and door. The rear wheel is crooked, like it has +20 toe and the front tire is hitting the inner fender. And isn’t pointing straight either. The car won’t drive. Completely bent tie rods and control. Arms and who knows what else. While my dad and I sat there trying to figure out what was going on I had to call local PD and report the Chevelle stolen. The responding officer said that someone possibly took the frs for a joyride and crashed but we couldn’t figure out why they would park it back in the driveway. I’ve filed a claim with my insurance and they’ll pick the car up tomorrow to evaluate it in Van Nuys. Do you think it’s reasonably fixable? What do you think the insurance will do. The agent I’m working with is nice and understanding. Oh. And was 900 miles past the recall work from Toyota of Oxnard. Good service time and car ran perfect. They event replaced a crank sensor supposedly. Apologies for formatting, spelling etc. I have a headache

How did they get the keys? And yeah looks like they curbed it pretty good. I don't think it's totaled (unless the main frame is twisted) but you might need like new control arms or something.

That is the weirdest story I think I've heard in here. That sucks dude. Sorry to hear it.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but all that looks repairable to me at first glance. Someone is going to have to get underneath before you can get a real estimate.

Do our cars not have immobilizers? How did someone even turn it on?

I think it is fixable.

I would be more worried about the 72. No word from the cops?
It is strange that they were able to drive the 86 without a key and if they did crash it why would the bring it back?
The whole thing is weird.

"The plan was to drink" might have something to do with it. I'd be looking at everyone with access to the keys.

I usually leave the car unlocked when it’s in front of my house. We did have a 92 accord stolen 5 years ago and found 2 streets over. Both keys were in the house but I don’t know if being push to start makes it possible to rfid hack it. And on the drinking point, we didn’t drink to a point of excess and my mother in law is allergic to alcohol so she would have noticed anything amis. No word from local PD as of yet. My grandma says the chevelle is probably in Mexico already. I wouldn’t doubt it

Why?
Edit: My car is behind two secure-access gates, I'd never leave it unlocked.

There is a WHOLE lot more to this story I am sure!

Good luck, BTW.

Maybe they hit the brz with the Chevelle somehow? Although I imagine the Chevelle would leave a mark pretty high up on the brz... Of course they could have tried a tow truck too and maybe it was too low? Just thoughts you have all the evidence. Security cameras are cheap now a days I love having them. Sometimes it's the wind, sometimes it's your neighbor drunk as fuh breaking OUT of your unlocked front porch (long story but great videos).

That car bounced off a curb at speed. The front wheel was turning as seen by the rash. It wasn't hit by another car nor a wrecker or in any other way damaged while stationary.

Somebody had the fob, took it for a ride, smacked it into a curb (probably very nearby) parked it and put the fob back.

Maybe it was a street race gone bad [emoji848] and now his Dad is in Mexico [emoji1166] with Monica, the cash, AND the respect!
