How long has your family kept a car?

This is a little misleading as I'm not talking about daily drivers but "keepers".
My brothers got into cars in the late 50's. Their first car was a 1936 Chevy tudor sedan. They traded their go-karts and a few dollars for it. My father was upset but my mother told him to help them. Next thing we know my father traded a 26" B&W TV that he'd built for a 1932 Frontenac 4 door sedan. It was complete and running and the family was now into collecting old cars.
My father had always lusted after a 1934 La Salle convertable coupe, the kind that he'd dated my mother in. Well after joining an old car club and looking through the roster he found that someone in the club had just the car. He found out that it was in bad shape as some kids were trying to build a hot rod out of it. They had swapped out the straight 8 for a 1940 Cadillac v8. There was no trans and the rear end was screwed up.
By 1964 the car was mostly restored and was invited to be part of the New York International Auto Show in a special exhibit called "Cavalcade of the Car". It showcased the 10 most influential automobiles built in the first 50 years of the car.
Over the years the car took part in many car tours and shows but it was first and foremost my parents funmobile. After my father passed in 1980 my mother had a restoration shop go over the mechanicals and kept the car for us to take her places. But the car sat more each year and my brother finally bought it from her. He discovered that it was in need of a full restoration. So for the past decade and half he's given it that good old college try. However, he and his wife are mush older than I and times being what they are it had to be sold before he could finish it.
So, to answer the question I put forth; Our family had that car for just short of 61 years.

The 1st photo is my father and I in 1965 in the Oshawa Automotive Museum parking lot.

The 2nd photo is it being loaded up by it's new owner.

My grandfather bought a Volvo 122S when it was about 1 year old. He kept it for the remainder of his life. My brothers and I couldn’t bring ourselves to sell it when he passed so we have kept it going with some minor updates over the last 15 or so years (paint etc). Still reminds me of Pa each weekend when I take it for a run.

Good on ya mate! So, that's got to be near on 50 years as they stopped making the 122 in 1970.

Thanks mate. Yeah, she’s a 66. Was my Pa’s daily for its whole life (lugging antique furniture around), so amazing it’s still going.

I've had my 911 since the late '80s.

I plan on keeping the BRZ for generations to come. I look forward to the day when I can give the keys to my kid, which I hope shares the same passion for cars.
