Loud Valve Tapping After Driving Hard

Hello Members,

I've noticed that recently, after doing a mountain run (Redline, windy roads) that at idle, the valve tapping is horrendously loud even from inside the cabin. Oil is 100% full and checked (0w-20) and the tapping is noticeable for about 30 seconds after coming to idle.
I know that valve tap is noticeable on these engines but I'm speculating that there are some oil flow issues to the heads, anyone had similar issues on track etc?

Thanks,
Jeth

Are you sure you aren't hearing the DI or the AVCS? Both systems make a tapping noise. I think there is another thread with a video of the engine where someone had the same question.

If it increases with rpms and it makes noise at idle, pop the hood and listen. If you can tell which side its coming from, left or right, then its valve noise. If you cant it could be rod knock.

From my experience I had both happen at the same time.
