Midwest 86 Cup

Hey folks,

A group of 86 track friends, located mostly in Chicagoland, have gotten together to start up a Midwest chapter of the 86 Cup time attack series. We have been talking a lot with some of the organizers of the California series and are working every day to get this started. We are still working on getting a schedule solidified, and laying some of the other necessary framework, but hope to have some announcements soon.

In the meantime we have established a FB group for those interested. We'd love to hear input from those looking to participate, and are planning a couple social gatherings as well as a unscored HPDE season opener/shakedown event piggybacking on the Windy City BMW event at Autobahn Country Club on May 19-20. They run an excellent event with lots of track time and exceptional instruction, this is a great track day for first timers and novices to attend.

We had a pretty good showing at this event last year, with around 12 Toyobarus if memory serves me right, and would love to get even more out this year! (An event page for this can be found on the Midwest 86 Cup group page)

So head on over and join the FB group, share one of your favorite shots of you at the track, and let us know a bit about yourself. Looking forward to seeing you all out there!

Update:
We are very excited to announce that Midwest 86 Cup will be running at all Gridlife events this year! Drivers registered in both Time Attack and HPDE will be able to run transponders in order to score timing for 86 Cup. Keep an eye out on the FB group/event pages and website for more details.

I'm glad that I stumbled upon this...definitely going to check it out! Do you just run events in tandem with Gridlife?

i'm looking for a timing-only, technical cone course style group, with zero points/rankings/vehicle classes.

do you offer something of that style?

Nope. Never heard of anything like that. Your best bet would be to go to an autocross and just ignore the points/rankings and not care what class you're in.
