Costco Meguiars Polymer Wash and Wax Review
 

As some of you may know, I'm all about keeping the BRZ in mint condition. There are other products out there that can probably cost a premium, and offer incredible results, but I'm always looking for alternatives that can offer similar results at a friendlier cost.

I was doing my regular Costco run and came upon the product above, never seen it before, and it seems like is an exclusive to Costco. I was interested and bought it for $15. I have yet to apply it because first I wanted to apply Meguiars Mirror Glaze Synthetic Sealant 2.0. Which has worked well so far after 2 days of rain and the dreaded pollen.
I want to see if there are any other experiences with this product as I'll also be testing the product later today and seeing how it reacts on a sealed paint surface, without waxing after the wash and dry.

I like to foam the vehicle first to loosen dirt particles, rinse, then use the two-bucket method to wash the vehicle using microfiber sponges. So I'll be testing the foaming capabilities of this product too.

I wonder how it is compared to the Ultimate Wash & Wax. I've always been a fan of the Gold Class and just recently picked up a jug of the Ultimate.

I liked the Ultimate spray wax/detailers as well and have recently switched to the Hybrid Ceramic series.
All of these meguiars products are great. Easy to find, cheap and go on sale often. Hard to tell the difference in beading and color depth vs say Colonite or other traditional carnuba waxes and a fraction of the effort.

I'm a sucker for Meguiar's products. Decent stuff without the premium price.

Following to gain more knowledge on this and possibly swoop one myself on the next costco run.

I would love to hear some thoughts, too. I need to buy a whole car wash kit so I may just guinea pig this if we do not have any anecdotes yet.

I use mostly Meguiar's stuff. But I don't use wash and wax products on my BRZ because I think wax product in your wash degrades the black plastic trim pieces.

Years ago I tried meguiar's wash n wax stuff on my BRZ, with the banana-colored soap and wasn't too impressed and became worried it wasn't good for my plastics, so I ditched it.

@BrahmaBull1990 I recommend checking Chemical Guy's wash products if you haven't built your wash and detailing kit.

Every summer I buy a new Chemical Guy's wash mitt, a bottle of Mr. Pink wash, and a bottle of Meguiar's Ultimate wax. Every time I wax I just use a new microfiber towel.

Added to the list! Thank you. Sounds bad but I use an automatic car wash far too often and I need to start waxing it properly, especially with the weather improving.

I still have two bottles of Avalon King ceramic to test out from their Black Friday sale.

Here it goes. Reviewing the Costco Meguiars Polymer Wash and Wax car wash.
I will be reviewing the overall value of the product considering the results.
To begin with, the bottle costs $15, for a 128oz bottle.
Car wash conditions were mostly cloudy skies, outside temperature of 64F with 30% humidity. This affects how well soap\wax settles on the paint. The vehicle surface was covered in pollen, but I had already applied the Mirror Glaze Sealant over the weekend. See image below.

This included a buffer, clay, ceramic wax, pressure washer and foam cannon.

Two buckets of water, one for clean water, and one for soapy solution. For this I used 1/2 cup of our Meguiars Wax/ Wash soap for about a gallon of water.
Next is the foam cannon

As you can see on the picture, I used approx 1/3 of a cup of the same soap. I wanted to see how well it foams.

Step 1. Foaming the vehicle:

Foaming was incredibly easy and it really produces a thick foam. You can notice how it almost doesn’t stick because of the paint sealant that was mentioned above, but considering the chemicals in the soap, it reacted quite well against the surface. I give it 9/10 for foaming capability.

Step 2, Rinse :

For this step you can almost see how clean and shiny the surface already is. Without scrubbing with a microfiber sponge.

Step 3 scrubby scrub:

This step yielded good results, I’m assuming the same thing happened as the foaming, where the surface being sealed prevented a thick layer of soap.

Step 4, rinse again:

This is where it gets interesting. I was very impressed with the reflection of the paint after the second rinse. You can almost admire certain water bending being present.

Step 5, Dry.

At this point of the day I had some clouds blocking the sun, but the results were amazing. The car was shiny, paint was smooth. It almost didn’t need a waxing to protect the sealant and add another layer of paint protection. Drying the car was extremely easy as very little residual water was on the surface. Water bending FTW.

Step 6: Waxing.

I found this step almost as overkill as it didn’t really add more shine to the vehicle, maybe a 20% increase. It is more to add another layer of protection.

Final thoughts:
Do I recommend this product?
Absolutely. 100%.
Quality for value. 8/10

The fact that the vehicle already had a great finish, after the second rinse, without drying, and then even a more surprising finish after the drying, speaks volumes for this product.
Some considerations for this being an 8/10 is because I feel that the paint being sealed might’ve added more flair to the results of the soap, rather than using this on a surface that had been stripped of any wax or sealants. A clean slate.
Definitely something to look into and consider the for the next time you do a Costco run!

You guys might look at the reviews of 303 graphene compared to waxes and ceramic coatings. Not the $1000 but the self applied.

It's on my car now and on some panels it's been on for a few weeks but I've already had to reapply to the hood/trunk/roof.

I ordered Turtlewax Flex to try the same experiment but I get the feeling I"ll be moving backward to Turtlewax paste ceramic+graphene. :bonk:
