AVO Turbo leaks and troubleshooting

I have an AVO turbo on my 2013 FRS. I bought the car turboed from an aftermarket company that used it to test new products. The car has 11k miles and I'm not sure how many are on the turbo kit. I have owned the car for about a month. I'm having smoke on startup and just over the last week began to have an oil leak on my driveway. There seems to be some oil on the turbo oil tank as well as on the exhaust coupler behind the turbo. I'm thinking this indicates a bad turbo but I'm not an excellent mechanic. Does anyone have experience with this kit that could help me troubleshoot?

Either there is a leak in the oil feed or drain lines, or there is an internal leak in the turbo, so you are right that a bad turbo is likely, since it was burning smoke. You might be able to get it rebuilt if a bearing failed, but maybe not. Check for shaft play in the turbo. It doesn’t sound good. Better the turbo than a piston ring or something else that could cause smoke.

A kinked of plugged oil drain line can also cause smoke.

It looks like whomever installed the turbo capped off the oil tank breather. sounds like this is causing my problems according to AVO. Ill attempt to vent the breather and see if it fixes my issue

Hard to tell everything from your pictures but yes the oil tank needs to be ambient pressure the same as the crankcase. AVO has an adapter that goes on the oil fill cap. I have one if needed. I redesigned the breather system on mine and can send you what I did if you want. It turns the catch can into an air oil separator. I have about 20K miles on it with no issues.

that would be incredible. I have been trying to get one from AVO but after a few emails they went radio silent. I have been asking how to make the purchase and nobody will respond. I am currently just venting into a bottle and its stopped it from smoking at least.

Sorry missed this post earlier. You get it worked out? If not PM me.
