559 Out of Place?

So is there any one who fills out of place in the Central Valley? I live in Visalia, and I know for a fact im not North or South. No disrespect but I feel I don't fit in.

From where I live:
SoCal- LA is about 3-3 and a half hours away
SD is about 5-6 hours away
http://mapq.st/18pzIwQ

NorCal-SF is about 2 and a half- 3 and a half
Crescent City is 10-10 and a half
http://mapq.st/10x8vEc

So with that being said, CenCal any one? Its not that I don't want to be apart of NorCal or SoCal, Its CA is so Damn long. Either way its 3 hours away to be involved in meets, drives, any event........

Thoughts anyone?

^^^ Attend both. At least I would try that. Rotate your visits. SoCal has a lot bigger population so chances of seeing a variety of 86s is far greater than Norcal's group. NorCal is an hour closer to ya so if you see an enticing meet here, come on up. Either way, twice the fun, friends, 86s, and social life. Who knows, maybe you can play ambassador and let us know what's the SoCal meets are like and entice us to make the farther trek.

I feel ya on this one being that I live in Stockton. I know there aren't a lot of great roads in the valley, but there are a lot of great drives to be had in the foothills. Did one yesterday out in the Sutter Creek Area and did a 2.5 hour drive outside of Georgetown a few weeks back. Maybe we should try to start a cruz thread out in this area and see what that gets us?

Yeah, I hear ya! One can only cruise down dead straight farm roads so many times ;). Why not organize a foot hills drive and post them up on the drive's thread:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29572

86DRIVE keeps track of all the drives there (and in other threads) to share and spread the word to anybody else interested. Check us out (link on my sig). We are a volunteer based group that organizes drives through out the area, just so happens we all live in the bay so that's where most of them are. We'd love to have some volunteers in the valley, cencal and sacramento area. Heck, a few of us might even drag our butts out of bed to get to a foothills/sierra's drive!

Sounds like all great drives, I say if you're gonna try to hit the bay, might aswell make the trek west and head north via hwy 1 (try to do it on a weekday tho, weekends are chuck full of tourists)

I took a quick spin out yesterday out to Turlock Lake straight east of Modesto. I was thinking about our run on Saturday, and about how many routes that there are in the near-valley and foothills direction. Usually without the tourist-y weekender traffic.

I used to hold a run for our Datsun Roadster community during the first week in March, but as the group has aged a bit, there were less and less cars coming out, and it just faded away.

Although I cannot promise anytime soon, I would like to hold a drive sometime in the Central Valley and through the foothills to the east of Modesto. As they all said 17 years ago when I moved here, 'Its only a couple of hours from everything.' Although it is really 15 minutes from nothing, there are some great roads around here, and it is time I re-aquainted myself with some of them.

Any takers? My weekend sched is completely filled until my return from the midwest at the end of June. The only issue is that the temps in the valley start to really climb by then, making the run a bit less fun.

We'll shit if I didn't has so much on my plate right now I'd hit the road. Na Visalia is not that bad. I'm only 20 min from NSF. There is just no organization or events here! 😖🔫. That's why I'm throwing out the idea of CenCal Region. So we here in the Vally can get together. All we have to do here is drugs, drink, or drive!!!!! So let hit the road!!!!

strat61caster 05-28-2013 02:08 PM

Visalia is in SoCal, Madera is the dividing line so you can really only say you don't belong if you live in Madera. But as a displacement effort all the central california stuff ended up here.

I still think dividing up the California forums was a mistake, this place has next to nothing going on now, at least with a bigger group we could talk about standard things affecting all of us like laws and tracks that we can visit and sanctioning bodies.

And get off my lawn.

Lol, you post this in N Cal section so you already think N Cal way. No?

UUUUUMMMMMMMMMM When was the last time you looked at a Map? Cause if you want to get Technical, Your in Central CA!!!! Let see San Jose to Crescent City is just over 400 miles, taking 7 and a half hours!!!! -for the ignorant- http://mapq.st/17o1AC3 :bonk:Now San Jose to San Diego is 460 miles, taking 7 and a half hours!!!! http://mapq.st/131fjts It takes longer going North cause how windy the 101 gets!!!! Now looking at a Map Northern would be Humboldt, an San Diego is Southern:bellyroll: So really your Central and make you right about one thing, that I'm southern. I know I don't understand why people started calling the Bay Northern CA?!?!?!?!?! OOOOO Wait a Minuet the Bay and LA became Northern and Southern CA cause the Mexican Gangs in the Prison System!!!!!!!!! Now since Your Central how about we start holding all events over here so you can make the 5 hour round trip!! Now is you want to keep being grumpy I wont tell you where open tracks like *Midnight Mayhem* are or how to find them!
:respekt:

And the second question, I posted this in Both Nor and SoCal :happy0180:

Well that escalated quickly...

Not sure what your rant is trying to prove, but might want to read this:

[ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_California"]Northern California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

In any case "Central California" generally refers to the "Central Valley", bitch about geography all you want but culturally speaking population density is waay more important when dividing people.

Edit: Just googled "Midnight Mayhem" I'm glad there's some Rocky Horror Picture love going on!
