Original Post:

Pretty sure the new '15 World Rally Blue BRZ will have the new World Rally Blue paint chip (code K7X) found on the '15 WRX/STI (versus World Rally Blue paint code 02C on current BRZs). Not sure how valid the following is but according to this:

The new paint code for the '15 WRB WRX is K7X. From what I have been told the paint is tri-color, which is a pain in the ass. A local body shop told me if I wanted to have indvidual pieces painted, such as the fog covers, there is a slim chance the color will match exactly. The old WRB was base-clear. This paint has a base, a shading coat on top, and then the clear. This is not good...
This intrigued me so I've collected a few shots of both blues next to each other. Mind that I've had my BRZ more than two years but I hardly see the difference (though I'm slightly colorblind :bonk:). At least the new blue still looks :w00t:

I'm more interested about how the new WRB is not good compare to the old one, reason being?

Matching paint for a respray or aero parts could be difficult like some have experienced with the 3-stage Satin White Pearl.

That's a good lookin' Breeze.

Dunno if it's the body lines of the cars, but the new WRB doesn't look like it has nearly the same amount of highlights from light... Hunting down a WRB 2014 might be a chore. :(

I've actually been wondering this myself for the past couple days, is it really going to be so hard to match the new paint?
Makes me want to think twice about getting a 2015 vs 2014

that's what im thinking, from the factory the car comes very dull. I do see the slight darkness in the pearl.

Is the tri colour supposed to make the paint more durable?

DSOmegaX 07-14-2014 03:37 PM

The new wrb looks more flat and darker. Its hard to tell from the pictures but in person I found it very apparent.
