Forced induction for ATs?

I apologize if this is a dumb question. Would forced induction (turbo/supercharger) and/or tuning be of any benefit for us with automatic transmissions?

Absolutely not. Boost only works in manual cars. I apoligize.

Lol I know you are being sarcastic but different FI kits will work better with the auto. AVO turbo, innovate, litchfield, and the JDL twin scroll kits are my choices for my auto.

Haha i had to do it. Some kits may work better and tuning should be very similar in both drivetrains. If you go big enough turbo it will be easier to manage staying in boost with an auto, that's the only real difference I can think of.

you don't lose boost in a turbo charged auto :)

The auto is a very nice trans but I will say the low mount turbo kits with the turbo close to the trans pan may add a little heat to the trans which can't be good. I really want to try the litchfield myself for the uniqueness, excellent numbers, and quick spool of the rotrex. The innovate should be good too as long as the torque coming on early doesn't put too much stress on it. I'm sure vortech would be good too but I still want to see more low and mid range torque before I'm sold on it.

I've always been a fan of supercharged engines as they avoid the turbo lag, but to my understanding with modern turbos that's no longer an issue is that right? As I've ordered an automatic BRZ I'm just trying to get an idea of what would be the best path for me from a power/economy standpoint.

Give them a call, problem solved. Over 300whp on pump gas, 430whp on E85.

I ran the P&L kit on my Auto FR-S before I lost it. Biggest reason why I chose Auto was because the shifting was quick around 4k rpm - worked for me. After turbo was installed... shifting lagged a bit on high RPMs which was a bit upsetting. After I lost the car I got a Manual right away and I can definitely feel the difference.! The P&L was running 5psi as a test run of reliability on the automatic... shifting took longer to complete on paddle shifters on 5psi, noticeably slower. Being that I'll be pushing up to 20psi on the kit... It wasn't going to work out in the long run..

Not to derail but what happened to your car?
