Texas FT86 Day Meet/Cruise

Well the date is soon approaching (August 6 - 8/6) and unfortunately it falls on a Tuesday this year. Since most people will be doing their 9-5 thing we will be holding the 86 meet/cruise on the Saturday before, 8/3/13. So mark your calanders and come join in the fun and festivites.

I will post more information as I get it but what I can tell you is that it will be held in the Austin area. We meet up in the A.M. for some breakfast and after the chit chatting and checking out the cars we will go on a cruise that will most likely involve hitting up Lime Creek Road. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Lime Creek Road you can YouTube it. For those who stick around and depending on the time there will either be a lunch or dinner get together at a restaurant that has yet to be determined (I'm hoping for Salt Lick BBQ) so we can talk some more and get to know everyone better.

Of course we want as many 86, FR-S and BRZ drivers as possible but anyone can come and have a good time. Last year had a good turn out and we hope this year will be even better. We ask that everyone be courteous and respectful to one another and to whoever we come across. Just make sure to treat everyone how you would like to be treated.

To those of you in the DFW are who would like to go, I will be meeting up with some of the local 86 owners and will be making the trip down on Friday, grabbing a bite to eat down there at dinner time, and getting a hotel. Anyone who wants to make the drive with us is more than welcome. The more the merrier.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and hope to see you all there!! Stay tuned for updates!!

UPDATE # 1!!!

The itinerary so far is as follows :

10:00 - 10:30 : Meet at Round Rock Donuts for breakfast
11:30 - 1:30 : Sporty driving on Lime Creek Road ending at The Salt Lick in Driftwood
1:30 - ? : Lunch at The Salt Lick in Driftwood (There is a Salt Lick in Round Rock but the one in Driftwood made for a longer drive as most people have requested)
After lunch we can meet everyone and look at cars, yada yada.
Whoever wants to stick around after that we'll be hitting up 6th Street in Austin later that night.

With the exception of when we meet at Round Rock, none of the times are set in stone and we probably won't stick to them 100%. It is just a rough idea.

UPDATE # 2!!!
Just found out that The Salt Lick is a cash only place. No credit cards. Also no separate checks and gratuity is added to parties of 8 or more. I'll do my best to work out the details to make sure everyone pays no more than what they owe, but keep extra cash handy to cover your part. From what it looks, we'll be having a lot cf people attending this so that means they are going to have to work hard to accommodate us. Lets make sure we respect the fact that they are going to serve us as best as they can.

UPDATE # 3!!!
It's awesome this is looking like it will have a great turn out. I won't lie though, more people are showing up than I really anticipated. Not that that's a bad thing, I just didn't expect as many cars this. That being said, to help accommodate everyone and so no one gets left behind, I think a few slight changes need to be made.

I'm still heading to RR donuts. Whoever else wants to do so, just be prepared for terrible traffic and a bit of a wait.

This is a great alternative. Or if you want to grab something somewhere else, by all means, go ahead.

I propose that we all meet at a designated time somewhere with more parking. Just a quick search on Google Maps and I saw a decent size parking lot on the NE corner of I35 and Palm Valley Road that is right in route with the planned route. I'm not from the area so if someone who lives down there has a better alternative, I'm all for it. I'm thinking we meet there at 11:30 and stick around until 12:00. That will give plenty of time for people who might be getting caught in traffic or are running behind. At 12:00 we head out. We will need 1 car to lead (I'll probably do it) and one car to be at the tail who is in communication with me. We follow the planned route until we get to the corner of Anderson Mill Road and Lime Creek Road where we will stop on the shoulder until I hear word from the tail car that everyone has caught up. At the end of Lime Creek we get back to Anderson Mill Road and follow it to Ranch Road 620. We stay on route until we get to Hamilton Pool Road. We do the same thing a little ways down Hamilton Pool Road as we did at the beginning of Lime Creek and Anderson Mill, pull over and wait to hear word from the tail car that everyone has caught up. After that it seems to be mostly light traffic until we reach The Salt Lick in Driftwood.

I will do what I can to make it, put me down as tentative.

autobrz 06-25-2013 10:37 AM

I'm in.

zaptorque 06-25-2013 11:38 AM

As cool as limecreek road is, its short lived and you cant really open her up at all. You should plan an all day cruise out the the three sisters....

进击的86 06-25-2013 12:28 PM

Have we decided to run Lime Creek? I love it and have nothing against it, but I think zaptorque have a point.

dr.occa 06-25-2013 01:22 PM

Limecreek isn't a top gear road for sure but it's definitely a good litmus test for good braking skills (among other things). Other ribbons of tar planes are not excluded.

Nothing is set in stone as to how this will play out. I'm not completely familiar with the area so if some of the local guys have any alternative, I'm open to all suggestions. The three sisters would be a great route to take but with meeting up in Austin, getting to the 3 sisters and back would be over 8 hours of driving. Then the people who are traveling would have to make the trip back to their hometowns. A lot of miles and road time for one day.

dr.occa 06-25-2013 04:30 PM

Party, bars, food, Limecreek, more party, more bars, more food, go home.

Oh yeah, big pic for super street annual 8/6 day photo fest.

Make sense to me, a returning trip with a few stops will be likely 4 hours.

Updated 1st post.

Dustin 06-28-2013 10:20 PM

We will be meeting at Round Rock Donuts between 10:00 and 10:30 AM. For those that have never been there............IT STAYS BUSY!!! I'd shoot to be there as early as possible. I spoke with the manager today and I might just make one big order, pay for it, and then whoever wants donuts can buy them from me (no extra charge, lol).

After that we can start the cruise. It will hit up Lime Creek Road but then turn south to Driftwood, ending at The Salt Lick around noonish. There is a Salt Lick in Round Rock but I chose this location due to the requests of a longer drive/cruise. They accept cash only but they also have an ATM. I spoke with the manager there as well and if I get a decent count on how many people will be attending I can make a reservation for us.

autobrz 06-28-2013 11:58 PM

Thanks for the update and suggestion. I have one suggestion for the beginning of the route, http://goo.gl/maps/z77Sx
