Things I like 2022, Things I miss 2020

We all love the new engine, torque and HP. Those are for sure. Here’s some things that I noticed in my nose one and some stuff that I miss.

Things I like 2022:
-new armrest
-seat adjustment
-seems easier to get in and out of
-no more seatbelt chime when setting phone on passenger seat :-)
- push button start on all lines
- good tires on the premium so no need to buy pilots
- adaptable headlights

Things I miss:
- the radio on the 2020 was clean with no knobs
- ride was a little smoother (I don’t mind it but my wife has a bad back and it bothers her)
- little storage container below radio
- the analog gages
- spare tire (I wish I would have snatched the one out of my old one before I sold i)
- the super clean interior 90s look for the base model
- 86 emblem in the headlights
- my car payment.

You bring up an interesting point regarding the stereo, the last gen was infinitely replaceable being a standard double din, I wonder how it will be on this gen.

2022 GR86 don't have spare tire?

some of the japanese video's showed a kenwood installed in the dash.

there's no indication that the radio isn't replaceable in the new model. the only major change is the premium gets a 6-speaker system without the mids, or apparently the door amp. but the limited is the identical setup to 1st gen with the amp and 8 speakers.

I think he was talking about the size of the head unit. I don't know what the aftermarket head unit market looks like but the new one appears to be a different size than the old one.

Nope. There's a divided Styrofoam insert in there that holds a portable air compressor, and has room for other tools/kit if you want to add them.

I'm going to throw my typical roadside kit gear in there and a can of Fix-A-Flat for emergencies. Yes, I know how bad that stuff is, particularly for TPMS. I want it for "it's not safe to wait for roadside assistance" situations. Otherwise, I'll call AAA and/or wait for a flatbed tow truck.

out of somewhere nearing 20 'flats', i've never had one that would be repairable with a compressor or can of fix-a-flat. usually by the time i pull over, the sidewalls disintegrated enough that it's now the artist formally known as tire.

I miss the pocket on the back of the passenger seat. It was so convenient to store stuff like sound recorder and lap timer phone there.

-no more seatbelt chime when setting phone on passenger seat :-)

A major improvement.

I have had the complete opposite experience. Of a dozen or so flat I have had two that couldn't temporarily be pumped up by a small compressor or can of fix a flat. Were they "repairable" ? No, but they held long enough to get someplace for a proper fix. I always carry a can even though I haven't had a flat in many many years now.

If I go out and find a flat tire today I am holding you personally responsible for making me say that.

Saw those too but can't seem to find it as an option on the .jp site. I wonder what these T-connect systems are:

Forgot to mention that I miss the 86 emblem in the headlights from the 2020

But love the new adaptable headlights and auto brights.
