2.5L with lower revs/more torque, or 2.0L with higher revs?
Assuming that Subaru/Toyota was listening to you, which would you choose? I think that these are both likely options as a high revving 2.5 is likely not in the works.
Choose wisely. :burnrubber: |
There is no replacement for displacement!
|
I want a 2.5 high rev engine producing 250+ hp
|
2.5 with less than 7400rpm? Is that what you're trying to imply?
|
Gimme revs and displacement. No reason they can't make a 7400rpm 2.5 liter.
I went from a 7000rpm 2.4 liter I-6 in the Z to a 7000rpm 3.1 liter. BLISS! The 6.0 liter in my FD spins to 7000 as well. Yee-haw! Don't wanna hear about any 6500rpm 2.5  |
Higher rev's with steady rising HP all the way to redline. I'm talking same as now upto and past 7400 to a 9k+ redline.
|
A proper header and tune seam to fix the torque problem, lowering the redline would really hurt the sporty feel of the car IMO.
I would be happy if the 2015 model came with a torque dip fix, and 8k redline and 230/240hp. |
Ill take higher revs and 2.0L. I want more specific output from a screamer. Its all in the intake manifold design.
|
Considering I'm going SC, I'll take higher revs!
|
Answer depends on weight difference of two options.

Then 2.5L for sure.
I spend 99% of the time in the rev range that would be positively influenced by an extra 500cc. If I had to give up 1000rpm for that, which I only use 1% of the time, I would. Of course, I would rather have the best of both worlds; as others have indicated. But, sticking to the OP, I would go 2.5L and less revs. |
They already sell that car. Its called a WRX
|
Everyone is going bonkers now that the 2015 rumor started...
However, if I'd have to choose, I'm with @ZDan, 7400+ and 2.5! |
