WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HOME TODAY?

We talk about our car events, but it'd be nice to see what people are doing to the place(s) they live in after parking their car.

LET'S GO

There'd be a pool in my photo if half of that space wasn't septic tank territory. Much envy!

Funny that topic has come up twice in under 24 hours!

All the trees to the left of the pool have been gone for two years now so the yard is much more open.

That's funny because if my yard had a pool in it I would spend the day filling it in with dirt.

Wasn't today, but was a week ago today....

Called the local recycler/junk hauler and had them come pick up some things:

About 600lbs of T6061 aluminum, including two airplane wings, a rudder, and a fuselage (got rid of my 1:1 scale aircraft after I couldn't find a builder club to take it for learning, and decided the potential liability was too high to sell it).

Several CRT TVs that were basically doorstops, including one 35" widescreen Philips HDTV that weighed almost 200lbs.

5 large boxes of computer, network and electronics mostly cables, pieces and parts.

A lot of scrap wood that I probably should have saved as it may have been worth a small fortune, but none was big enough for any real purpose.

What i got back was a 20x40 room in my basement that I now can fill up with other junk!

We got the house dirt cheap because it had been on the market for 3 years since nobody wanted the pool. It does get used so is worthwhile having especially since it would cost more to get rid of it and fix up the lawn than it does to run it.

Well is more about what I have planned to do.

Trying to regrow the grass in my backyard, I already threw seed and grass food to speed up the process, we've had a lot of rainy days so it has helped a lot.

Cut the grass in front of the house.
Need to fix my flower beds, and add a few other spots for plants.
Need to get rid of old lumber that was left when we built the deck not too long ago.
Need to cut a bunch of branches and weeds that are surrounding the perimeter.
Need to get about 2 yards of gravel to cover spots around the house.
I would really love to get a paved driveway, instead of gravel. I get extremely nervous working underneath the car because of it, plus is uncomfortable.

Need to clean the gutters this weekend.

Need to finish painting one of the guest rooms, we painted the whole interior and by the end I didn't even want to think about paint for at least a couple of weeks, so we left one room without paint.

Clean the basement and start looking for dehumidifiers, its gets pretty MOIST down there (gigitty).

Just got my pull-behind spreader fixed, getting ready to seed the lawns.

I bet that felt liberating.

Why did you get rid of the plane? No plans to finish it?

It did, but was also bittersweet. I started to keep one of the wings to polish and make a desk out of, but then decided against it.

Since I purchased a (flying) plane about two years ago, I decided I probably would never finish it, and if I did, I'd want to build a different one that was more modern. I'd had the kit for over 20 years and hadn't worked on it in probably 10. It was a case of life getting in the way.

I decided I needed the space and needed to just rip off the Band-Aid. I could have moved it to my hanger at the airport, but it definitely wouldn't have gotten finished there.
