Subaru BRZ STI exhaust - first clip
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/third/car3.png
FT86CLUB Homepage Featured Story prototype? final product? fake? not sure, but the STI logo is printed on the tips. Here's the JDM BRZ STI brochure - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3609 [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7t7guC-epPI"]BRZ STI‚ƒƒƒ„ƒžƒ•ƒƒ - YouTube[/ame] |
I would assume that it is real. This exhaust is shown in the STi Accessory Catalog for the JDM BRZ.
|
That looks... very familiar. ;)
|
Looks great but sounds pretty close to stock.
|
I think that's the best sounding exhaust I've heard so far.
|
|
So STI supports breast cancer awareness?

The better answer would have been; "Yes, rice, Subaru loves breasts just as much as you do..." :D |

I like this! Anyone have any links to the JDM STI catalog?
|
$1800 check it out: http://japanparts.com/images/ImageFr...ase=1&no=42462

If they bring it here, it will be a lot cheaper, I assume.
|
$1,800 and according to the Speedhunters article, adds no horsepower. NEXT!
|
I think the Nameless Performance kit is looking the best to me so far. But this car is still very young and I'm sticking with the stock exhaust for awhile to get a feel for the car the way Toyobaru wants me to. Of course not forever though. :-)

Pretty standard for Subie exhausts. My JDM Sport axleback was one of 3 in the states, was 1300 new. Guy that sold it to me upgraded to the Ti version, which was 1900 new. For an axleback.
And I didn't make up the S.f.B. thing. :P Look it up! |

It is pricey but compare it to the Ackropovic mufllers/pipe that I have on my KTM Superduke at $1600.00:confused0068: |
I love the way it looks and sounds but if it really doesn't increase power, what's the point? Is it a full cat-back or just an axle-back?
|
I think it's just an axleback.
All STi stuff is expensive, if people haven't noticed by now. |

borla or autofactory exhaust sound or GO HOME!
|
I still hear the chirping/crickets, lol:)
|
Maybe the price is steep because it looks like it has one individual muffler per tip and likely has a resonator and silencer (more parts to deteriorate depending on what it's made of).

It's also got STI markup AND JDM markup. Always high-quality pieces...always expensive.

As an alternative, I'd consider the Greddy SP Elite exhaust which has a very similarly cut tip, doesn't have a resonator/silencer (less pieces to deteriorate), and claims HP: +2.7hp TQ: +4 ft/lb gains for 3 to 4 hundred bucks. Should look less ricey with a 102mm (or 4") tip vs 120mm (or 4.7") on the STI (though they look similarly sized; not sure if they are inner diameter or outer diameter specs). For reference the OEM JDM tips are 86mm (or 3.4"). http://greddy.com/upload/img/101172__SPe_FRS_401.jpg [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXYnyvJEDDA"]GReddy Racing SP Elite -Exhaust - Scion FR-S - YouTube[/ame] Should be a good combo with the OEM-looking Takeda CAI which will also be badged as Greddy. http://greddy.com/upload/img/GAIS_FRS_b1.jpg |
I simply skip out on JDM goodies; they're often too expensive for what they are. Well, except that STI lip I'm going to order soon...
|
I couldn't help but look at that under diffuser part in the pics/video, and think again, $800? For that piece of plastic? Really?

Ooh, that would be nice! C'mon side skirts! Those, the front lip and rear diffuser would be all I'd need for the exterior of the BRZ :)
|
The front lip is subtle enough for me to not want skirts or that horrendously overpriced rear diffuser. Though I do think the TRD duckbill's in my future.
|
The side rails will be the same add-on that is available for the current GV,GR and even the GJ's.
The front, side and rear will all compliment each other. |
um really?..... that's it? Pass

These overpriced bits? |
Yeppers. Kinda bugs me though. Because the BRZ doesn't have any existing side rails for these to bolt to. So for me it will look kind of unfinished. That's why I'm more geared towards the TRD side rails.
