I actually don't know how to edit image inline.. so just adding more attachments.
I cut some double sided foam from a roll in half - wish I had single sided sticky foam, but after touching it a bunch it became un-sticky :). I used krazy glue to glue the wires neatly to the adapter and the speaker basket so they don't rattle, and yes that is cardboard in the speaker basket holes - I found some thick cardboard, cut it in small pieces and folded it in two. If I didn't use some kind of spacers, the screws wouldn't seat right, or I've have to screw in at an angle. Using Earthquake VTEK-62Xi because I have an inside connection. They're 2-ohm so plug and play :) They're not going to introduce window shattering bass, but they are an improvement over stock. Next up is installation... |

A few more photos after finally putting in the both speakers. I used longer sheet metal screws that had the same threading. And yes, that is cardboard I used as washers for screwing the speakers into the adapters. Hey, it works and sounds fine. :)

Nice job on this.

Does adding the adapter cause the speaker to contact the backside of the door card now? Factory speakers make the speaker opening/knee pad to vibrate, does this also cause the vibration?

Any speaker will do this, and it is not a property of a particular speaker or setup. Adding deadener to the surfaces can reduce the vibrations. |
Did you install foam baffles (cup) behind speakers to keep water out of the speaker?

Update?
