I don't want to be "that guy" but I am not a fan of motul either, but thats a discussion I rather avoid as there are to many brand fan boys out there and it always turns into a sh*tshow. |

I started running Amsoil after seeing this thread:

This is what I talk about when you go with special order oils. When you need it, you have to wait till it ships.
If you can live with timing everything to when stuff ships, by all means special order oils is ok. |
Big fan of Redline oils myself for the shear resistance. But no question, of your two choices the answer is Mobil 1.

NAPA also has their own brand of synthetic (which is made by Valvoline) and when on sale, it's usually $3.49 a quart.

Just don't get royal... anything else is good.
Try eneos if you want. O.o you can get them @ napa. It's nice. |

For a boosted car running E85, I would not use the 0W-20 GF-5 oil from Mobil 1 or Royal Purple or any brand. I would be looking at something a little robust and with higher detergency/dispersancy levels. For Mobil1, maybe the 0W-40 since it's a light 40 grade or even the High Mileage line since it has the older API SL levels of anti-wear additives. For Royal Purple, probably the High Performance Street oil in 5W-30. UOA's here have shown that with a very good tune you can run GF-5 0W-20 oils with good results, but there isn't anything wrong with maybe stepping up the viscosity and/or or the anti-wear/detergent package. And I definitely wouldn't make a decision based on how someone feels about brand x over brand y. Sure, RP offers low bang for the buck, but that doesn't mean it sucks and they do have a nice variety of oils to choose from (GF-5, high performance street, and pure racing). |
All I can really add is do UOA until you find an oil your happy with, that is the only way to get the right oil you want.
