Does the oil change (every 7500 miles or 7.5 month) assume you're using synthetic oil
Does the oil change (every 7500 miles or 7.5 month) assume you're using synthetic oil or standard oil? I asked this in another thread but got no response.

Synthetic.

It is scheduled as per the recommended oil so that would be synthetic.
Are you using standard oil? |
I was changing mine at 7.5 months and got "scolded" by the dealership for not doing it every 6 months even tho the manual says 7.5
I do it every 6 months now. |

Full Synthetic 0W20
And that business of needing to change oil every 6 months, regardless if only minimal miles are driven during that period, is all hogwash in my opinion. Those New Car Dealerships just wanna take our money. |

There is also the fact that it is the manufacturers recommendation not the dealerships (even if this statement counters my earlier one saying it is the oil companies). |

I probably wouldn't in your case either but if you have engine issues they will use that fact to not cover under warranty since it is the minimum required interval. |

Yep but you gotta pay to play. Like I just said above I have had to have the oil changed every two months due to mileage but I knew the frequency and costs before I bought the car and planned for them. It has been shown on here many times that these engines can be very oil sensitive (like most low displacement, high compression ones are) so messing with other things to save a few bucks just isn't worth the risk. |

Get one of those fancy twist open drain plugs. Change the oil at every 6 months (DIY - keep a log) (keep the old oil for the change after next)........ put in new oil ........you see where I'm going with this ...... :D Back in the day, we used to drain the oil out of the new car ...... put it in the old truck ....... drain that oil out of the truck and put it in the oldest tractor ...... drain that oil and return it to the earth (by spraying it on the gravel road in front of the house, to keep down the dust). Sheesh ...... and the folks today think they invented recycling ..... humfrz |
If you're following the manual and changing your oil with 0W-20. It only comes in Synthetic as far as I can recall. There might be some Synthetic-blend of 0W-20, but for sure it's some sort of Synthetic.

Oi change intervals, in reality, should be dictated by your driving needs and oil consumption and contamination as determined by used oil analysis. Just because it's not applicable to you doesn't mean it's not applicable to everyone else. -alex |
The 6 month recommendation is for standard/Non-Synthetic oil as it becomes corrosive over time. This is a big deal in the restoration world and they are very strict about changing the oil on a motor than has been cranked.

Bottom line is it's a 6 month or 7.5 month oil change with synthetic because 0w20 only comes in Synthetic. I believe the 13-14 is 7.5 months per the manual and 15+ is 6 months. |

I can also feel it when my oil is about a third of a quart low. I never miss so I've learned to trust my gut. |
