Motor Trend 2016 Hyperblue long term test

interesting fact:
2016 gained 9 lb from 2013
2016 test 0-60 mph for 6.8s and 2013 6.4s

Some of that 9 pounds is the under-body panels, which are now standard.

acetothermus 12-29-2015 02:14 PM

Was hoping for more info...but interesting on the weight gain. I wonder if the .4 seconds was due to conditions at the time of testing, or a difference in skills of the testers.

MisterSheep 12-29-2015 02:15 PM

and the back up camera assembly.

Summerwolf 12-29-2015 02:20 PM

9 lbs really isn't that much..... Don't eat a cheeseburger on track day.

tobin 12-29-2015 02:29 PM

2013 models just went up in value

benrz 12-29-2015 05:44 PM

HyperBlue value just went down.

I'm glad I went with the '13 lightweight model, instead of holding out for a '16.

xwd 12-29-2015 10:23 PM

Haha the 2013 lightweight model is the FR-S. 9lbs is nothing. The 0-60 time is probably within noise too.

SmartedPanda 12-29-2015 11:27 PM

I'm staring at my panels right now, maybe...I shouldn't install them.

Also, 9lbs, that's like 2 rear seats, and empty out the glove box.

Never mind the fact that we add over nine pounds in aftermarket goodies to the car...

Honestly 9 pounds doesn't mean much. 900 pounds...then you're talking some serious bloat.

Lonewolf 12-30-2015 12:37 PM

Love all the haters in the comments section of that site...jeeze people on the internet are bitter :bellyroll:

Honestly don't mind about the value of my HyperBlue that much as I'm planning to keep it for a good while and sentimental value is really good for me :)

Luftwaffel 12-30-2015 03:27 PM

I feel unreasonably annoyed that they went for a Hyperblue that could be sitting in someone's garage instead of racking up miles for a pointless long term review, given that they already have a long term BRZ. Why not red or something not limited?

I'm not saying it's a fucking unicorn or something, but their whole goal is to run the thing all over the place day in and day out.

These cars were made to be driven, not to sit in someone's garage all day.

Teseo 12-31-2015 05:13 PM

Not interested, did not came with F/I

And I daily drive mine. You're misinterpreting my point, which is that a company car isn't appreciated like your own.

Babel 01-01-2016 02:57 PM

The 2017 is probably going to make me hate my 15 if they up the torque and whp.

Yes, but you're having a nice piece of cake now.

hyperblue weighs more :bonk:

Speed2th 01-02-2016 12:41 PM

a 2016 model weights more could be caused by:
-added under panels
-added knee pads
-on board computer - star links
