Man Im pissed. Picked the game up tonight just to drive my frs in it. Install plus updates took 4.5 hours. I got to do a few laps and all I could notice how shitty the game looks. Shift 2 looks years ahead of this. The frs gearing is also off. 3rd gear tops out around 80 something in real life it's more around 100. Not happy about this purchase I just should have borrowed the game from work. But glad I had a GameStop gift card to use and didn't waste my money. :mad0260:
|
M/T redlines at 85mph in 3rd. A/T would go higher, but the game is probably using the M/T gearing (they usually do).

Gearing can be customised by purchasing the fully custom tranmission where you can input specific gear ratios to match your car. |

I'm glad they came out with the Scion version in GT5 though, I actually picked up GT5 the other day for the first time in months and started playing it just because of the gt86. lol |
Nice!!!
|
Is this for real? That would be really COOL! :burnrubber:

I'm not talking about the physics end but the presentation. The tracks look like they did on ps2. The render sucks plain and simple.

That being said, certain things in GT5 could use massive work, like shadows. What the heck is with the shadows?!? I think GT5 is an amazing game, and I love it, but honestly for how long it took, it should have had a more polished result. Jeff |
Maybe I'm being harsh since I do gave development for a living but. After playing Shift 1 and then Shift 2 they blow GT5 out of the water in terms of presentation. I have not had the chance to pick or or play Forza but I should.
|
GT5 had the gt86 so long ago though..

As for the game it's good, keeps me busy enough at times. Going to go home and grab the FRS tonight. I already have the other gt86 cars they released but still want the FRS in my collection, haha. |
I came from playing Forza to GT5. I love GT5 for being what it is. Graphics? It's a simulator, I can be okay with that. Although, I think a wheel is much more needed in the game it gives me confidence that I would be able to use a 3-pedal layout.
The things that blew me away the most about GT5 is the time/weather changing. And headlights. Both of which have their own difficulties - froggy headlamps, dyrl, wipers, inside-car lights. The little things that make those two additional things a big leap for me in terms of immersive experience. I've had the Toyota 86 (LH). But I don't think I seen the Scion. I have to admit, I use games to see what the real thing would be like since I don't have the ability to see what the car looks like at night. |
I've just downloaded the FR-S :party0030:
Question, which GT5 tires are the closest to the real stock tires in your opinion ?? |

I started falling out of love with the GT franchise with GT4. I felt that they shifted too much effort towards the steering wheel and left the regular controller players behind. I even bought the wheel to see if that would help. The problem is that you can't get any G-force feedback for breaking or accelerating without some sort of hydraulics (and that is only limited to a max of 1.0G), so it's still not a real simulator. I do like playing the racing games, but I have gravitated more towards the feel and style of the Forza franchise. Oh, and the interface with Forza is much better than in GT3 or GT4. I haven't played GT5 yet, so I can't comment on that one. |

First of all you must have a bad HDTV that is not 1080p. GT5 looks awesome if you have the right setup. 4.5 hours to do all your updates? What kind of internet connection do you have? There are a lot of updates if you are starting from scratch but dang bro...4.5 hours! WOW Just saying...it is the best looking and more realistic racing game out there. |

Thanks for the info, i got some time to chill tonight so imma down load the frs for sure... Been a huge fan of gt since it came out on ps1... This was the first part of my introduction to cars and modification before i could legally drive... Plenty of good times with this series and one of the reasons i would never buy an x-box... Thanks again OP and thanks GT5!!!

I am picking the game up in an hour. I played it for a while when it first released, but was supremely disappointed. Forget Forza 4 I thought Forza 3 blew it away. By the time Forza 4 came out, it made GT 5 seem archaic.
The Menu system is so bad and poorly designed. Single player seemed like a chore. B Spec was really misguided. Actually One of the most disappointing games for me this generation. I'm stupidly picking it up again to play around with a car I already own in real life. I really need help. |

I noticed the Scion has much higher tuning limits than the GT86. Top power is well over 300hp and I did not even add the exhaust and intake.
What fun this car is at 305hp. |

im not sure about you guys but the only cars i dont see on there are the FR-S Concept, FRS and the BRZ... |
So for the people that already downloaded it, where exactly do you find the FS-R once you download it? I have it downloaded but there's no dealer for Scion and it's not under Toyota either.
