FR-S 10 Series Badge

Alright, the googling that I have done for these projects hasn't turned up anything helpful, so I figured I'd leave it to the gurus of FT86 to help me out.

Two Questions.

1) Has anyone seen Toyota replacement badges for the FR-S 10 series that glow at night?

2) Whether or not their is an answer to number 1, Does anyone know how I can get the emblems to stay on at night? Am I able to hook them up to the headlights?

Thanks Gurus

All I know about those is you can not just buy them over the counter and they already stay on with headlights on the cars they come with don't they?

No. They are only on with engine turned off at specific times with the doors unlocked. They turn on when you:
1. Unlock doors from a distance with remote
2. Walk near your car with key fob in your possession when car is unlocked
3. Turn car off after running, they stay on until you lock doors, or they time out at about thirty seconds.

To the OP: they are controlled by a microprocessor that has the white come on separate from the blue, then the blue is added. If you wired them to the headlights they would come on blue and white simultaneously. I believe the controller for them is under the console, but that may only control the dash panel illumination.

I doubt know anything about OEM light up badges but you can buy light up Toyota badges and wire them however you want. Ie key power, headlights, switch, etc

go_a_way1 12-08-2015 05:41 PM

Not to get off topic but why do you want light up badges?

I too had no idea they were so complicated

ProjectoGL 12-08-2015 06:20 PM

Since i personally have a series 10 i can say i would not want mine to be on all the time...because of the blue...it'll make your car look like a hybrid badge instead hahahaha...but that's just my opinion. What it does now is just enough i.e. unlock door...walk by the car with key fob as mentioned above.

Ashikabi 12-08-2015 06:36 PM

Get it in a different color?

I feel that the light up on emblem being on at night is just enough to say "Hey, look at what I am driving," without saying "I am a 90's Honda ricer." lol

Turbo95eg6 12-08-2015 06:57 PM

Pretty sure 99% percent of people here with the glowing emblems hate them, and would gladly replace them.

Amirite?

It has gotten enough compliments that eh... its alright. Best part is it only comes on to welcome you when you walk up to the car and goes out when you close the door, so no rice while you drive.

Not right,

I like them on my 10 Series. Why is it nobody says anything about the huge glowing white Mercedes Benz badges that stay on all the time but some people here make such a big deal about little blue/white badges that stay on for less than a minute when you turn the car on and off?!? Because MB costs more anything they do can't be critiqued?

P.S. I wonder how you came to that conclusion?

KR-S 12-08-2015 10:29 PM

The light-up badges don't bother me.

It would be interesting if someone used the hybrid Toyota emblem on a 10-series.

Ashikabi 12-08-2015 11:44 PM

How many race cars have light up badges? How can they be rice?

It must be more stock. As much like my mom's car as possible! That way no one looks at my car. Wouldn't want someone to think I'm one of them there Honda ricers. With their fancy wheels and lowered ride height. Damn kids make be sick!

not hating on them i just dont favor light up things on my car other than my heads/tails/fogs. Its supposed to act as a locator badge because clearly there will be so many FRSes in the parking lot i will not know which one is mine.:bonk:

A handful of people in our group actually want the light up badges, I've been asked how I got them or if I know how to a few times before. I enjoy them, it's unique and they only come on as a greeting/goodbye from your car, not really rice imo. Can't please all of the people all of the time.

Starkiller 12-12-2015 01:10 PM

I modified mine so they just stay white, instead of turning blue. The blue was a bit much for me. As for getting them to stay on while driving... I don't know about that either. But it wouldn't be as hard as you may think. The control module is located under the center console and is wired to stay on with the dome light. If you wanted to trace the wiring harness, I am sure that you can re-wire it to the headlights quite easily. Then just install a switch that you can control when they come on and off. However, if you were to do that, I think you would lose the "lighting up when you get close" feature. Good luck and Godspeed!

You could connect the hot "controller to badge" wire to the headlights. Then whenever the controller tells it to be on OR the headlights are on it will be illuminated

For a limited edition (which is just Toyota/SCION speak for giving back some of the features they stripped out for extra $$$) the badges are unique and aren't TRD accessories or from the parts bin of other markets.

Yep, the silver seatbelts, the badge and the light up dash are actual limited edition stuff. I wish the seats had been leather/alcantara though, it's the only thing they missed.

Agreed... well I would've liked the matching blue interior. That was my biggest peeve about it :/

I think just to order those parts for say an accident or something it requires a VIN number from whatever toyota parts department you get it from

@Patrick_B - Seriously? I'd consider selling mine if someone wants to shell out $1500 for them.

Could you just replace them with standard Scion or Toyota badges, or are there extra holes that would need to be filled.
