'13 FRS MT 26k
Saw a '13 FRS MT with 26k for $14k. Clean and stock. How much you guys think it should be going for? What's the catch?

I would be looking very closely. Seems way low for a clean title vehicle.
|
I think the prices are getting close to this amount seems reasonable.

Must've been in a few accidents for "good" condition. Run a carfax or something on it.

Man have a good look around it and see if everything looks normal, open the engine compartment check to see if screws that are normally left alone have been unscrewed, get a flash light and kneel down and have a good look underneath it, look in the trunk see if everything looks normal on both sides and the same, look for traces of paint that's not supposed to be there and check the car fax and check the car at a mechanic and body shop.

It sounds like a very good deal, but I don't know if it's a too-good-to-be-true deal.. it could be legit. Remember, this is a niche market car. To us, it's a great car. To the general populace, it's an impractical car that can't be driven safely year round (WRONG.. but that's how most folks feel about RWD these days). The market is slow on these, and they sit on dealer's floors for a long time typically.
I paid 17,750 for mine w/ 22,500 on it (FR-S base, manual, argento), Toyota certified (12/12k comp, 7 yr/100K drivetrain) from a dealer a little over a month ago. 14K in the private market, no warranty... it's not that far off. Just sayin'. Look at it closely, of course, and DO check into the title history for sure. If that checks out, it may actually be just a very good deal, and not a big fat mess! Barry |

I recently got a wholesale offer of $15300 from the Toyota dealer I bought the car from. This was an outright purchase; not a trade-in. Mine is an 2013 AT, but that doesn't account for THAT much difference.

something wrong. 17-18k is a fair deal on something like that. in the 16,000's and you are doing very well. I vote rebuilt title or just some old guy that goes through cars quickly and doesn't care about losing a couple bucks just so he can move it quickly.

Get me the vin and I can pull the carfax

Mileage, if it really is accident free.
I've seen two or three that cheap as well that appear to be not a scam. Maybe not the best examples, but yes if you're patient and willing to travel (or lucky, or don't care about prior crash damage) you could get an 86 in your driveway for $15k nowadays. http://www.libertyautocity.com/used/...d1ce98a09d.htm http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...6095/overview/ http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...9553/overview/ http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...3288/overview/ Personally, I'd save up an extra few thousand and get a nicer one. |

We're over 3 years in and the nice ones are still asking $18k+ depending on region, compared to this chart below. http://www.edmunds.com/car-buying/ho...fographic.html |
What reason did the owner give for selling?
Seems like a very low price... If possible I'd probably have a mechanic you trust take a second look at the car. |

Nice find I will buy it for 14100$
Thanks for the info. The price i$ right, come on down!!! |
this really makes me think as an owner of a 2013 with only 30k miles...
|
I saw a 13 it very low mi. for $12995.........salvage title.
|
I recall seeing 2 for $16,000 - $16,500 east coast about a year ago, which in the NJ - PA area is the lowest I think I've seen them...
One was being sold by a dealer and included a $2,000 loyalty discount in SUPER SMALL text on the advertisement, the other I never looked into... I'm curious to see what the Op. finds out, for his sake I hope the car is legit and he can snag the deal. |
not unreasonable, I was given an offer of $20K on a 2014 MT with 18K miles rofl.

but that's exactly the problem with sports cars in the long term for companies though. My friends mom is a manager at a Nissan Dealership, and his father is a manager at a Major Dodge, Chrysler Jeep Fiat dealer in the area and works for MOPAR there. My friend worked there over the summers and such when we were leaving high school and specifically the online sales stuff. They hated cars like the GT-R, 370z, Challenger, viper, abarth, and SRT vehicles sales wise because they sat on the lot for around 5-8 months and they would get calls and messages online for them and then no one would show up with money. Cars like the Durango, Grand Caravan, dart, versa, Rogue and pathfinder they would get at least 3-4 of sold each day alone online by legitimate people further away. The market for these cars is exactly as described it's a niche only car people or people that like the look of the car and don't need anything "practical" will buy it. |
