All this "Sub 300hp" and "you'll never make more" is just rubbish. |

280whp is really where most will stop anyways. It's just too expensive and really not worth it after that. You're better off getting another car if you want more than 300hp. |

We have a Vortech car and a Kraftwerks car both local to me making over 300whp on 93oct. Drift Office has also surpassed the 300whp mark with the Edelbrock kit on 91oct but was a tad agressive on the tune, and was still on stock pulley. Add a 3" pulley and 93oct gas, and there's no reason this kit won't pass 300whp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So it's safe to say, the sweet spot for this car without getting ridiculously expensive is in the 280whp range. That's about all the power 95% of the people here will stop at anyways. So with respect to the Edelbrock SC kit, it's literally perfect. |
cleeeeeeeeeean build :w00t:
dat edelbrock. |
Thats one nice clean build!!

No arguments on what you're saying in terms of strengthening various parts... but all I am saying is that people out there seem to think the SC limit is 300hp or so, and if you want more then you need a turbo or other mods... which... as @NotSoJDM has pointed out is not the case. In terms of cash and "value for money" - that's a whole different debate, but when I compare the cost of an fr-s/86/brz in my country + the cost of a few mods (e.g. what I plan to do... SC, wheels, headers) then it's still cheaper than most other RWD cars I could buy here. So really it's all about your own priorities and budget. I also consider spending the cash over a period of time a better option than buying an expensive new car now (that is financed too). ~Don't mean to :threadjacked: ~ |

how is the Edelbrock SC ? do you have a dyno chart? |

Sub'd for updates
|
Found some more pictures today. Updated the first post with a few.
Also, here are some pics from when I had my replacement bumpers painted. I hit a semi tire that blew out on the highway at about 80mph. It wasn't pretty. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psz8wdsgni.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...pskgotpzod.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Came for the Edelbrock, stayed for the other classy mods. Sub'd!

I have worked on jackstands for the past 8 years so a few months back, I decided to get some Quick Jacks.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psct1svemx.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psuyemwt4w.jpg They were petty awesome, but I really wanted a full size lift in the garage, so I opted for a 2 post a couple months after. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...pswsuuj4t6.jpg It's been awesome to have, and has made quick work of all the cars that come through. I also do a bit of fab work and installs for locals. Here are some pics I stumbled across today from some exhausts I built and some forced Induction builds I installed before picking the Edelbrock.
Exhaust Work: #1: 2.5" Catback (First Exhaust I Ever Built) #2: 3" Turbo Car Catback http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...pspdgan1jp.jpg AVO Turbo Outlet & Overpipe 3" Fab: The factory turbo outlet from AVO leaves a lot to be desired. But the space is so tight, pie cuts were necessary. This was my first pie cut project. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psfhuigll2.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psrbdjz8f0.jpg Lotus Diffuser Center Exit: A friend of mine with a BRZ cut up his rear bumper to fit a Lotus read diffuser. He asked me to come up with a center exhaust so this is what I came up with. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psst3ngovg.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps4nkoswee.jpg Single Exit Frontpipe Back Exhaust: So I built a 3" exhaust from the front pipe back that ended up being super loud paired with the ace header. So I sold it to a friend. http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psgq8laavc.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psini8fm5a.jpg http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps2n5mqu5m.jpg FI Builds: Cosworth: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps1qewmlge.jpg PTUNING: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psvqhmtrvj.jpg SBD: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...ps0jvdabn6.jpg Vortech: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psr6kj9syp.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
NotSoJDM's Edelbrock SC BRZ & Possibly Random BRZ Fab Work
I managed to snap a my rear Whiteline sway bar near the endlink a while back. Not sure how honestly, but Whiteline sent out a replacement as soon as I sent them a pic of the damage. Great customer service.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psnf4znqjs.jpg All fixed up! http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psdzrtqtjg.jpg |
I'm curious why you chose the edelbrock SC? And how it has held up, your inputs, areas it may be lacking, goals, etc. Any first hand info would be great!

Some good Fab work. Subbed for more updates and content.

When I first got the kit, I did a review on it. You can check that out here. It goes over a lot of what you are asking about. In a nutshell, I was not happy with any of the kits I had personally installed up to this point. They all had some problems during installation (even a $8k Cosworth setup). After Edelbrock announced their kit, I started to follow the progress, and it became evident that it was going to be the kit for me. After installation, my suspicions were confirmed. The instructions were extremely detailed, everything fit exactly as intended (no cutting, welding, etc), and the support being one of the early kits was top notch. So far, I have no complaints with this kit. I daily drive it, autocross it, track it, and it has met or exceeded just about every expectation I've had. My end goal for the kit is 300+whp with a pulley on pump gas. And some more with flex fuel down the road. I'll link you some videos in a bit. |

I REALLY loved them over a traditional Jack and stands. They make lifting the car to jack stand height really easy, and they fit under my low car easily. The only real downside is the hydraulic lines, which are a necessary evil. They are cumbersome when you're trying to move around in front of the car, as they go from the pump to each side of the Jack. Even with that downside they are well worth it. Do you have more photos of the center exhaust from a distance?

In the mean time, here are some pictures of another exhaust I did that came out of a Lotus diffuser. This one exits above the diffuser since it didn't have the hole that the other guys has in the middle of the diffuser itself. This is the rest of the exhaust that compliments the AVO turbo outlet and overpipe I posted earlier. Customer request was a single piece exhaust from the Overpipe-back, and must have 3" tips that exit 3.5" trim rings. It was an absolute mother to build, but came out pretty cool. Tips I made: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...pswoqg32ei.jpg The full bitch: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psgdvegebf.jpg Installed (missing diffuser lol): http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d2...psoiwnvnvv.jpg I will get some pics of both of them in the completed state here shortly. |

2 Questions
1. Do you have more detail pic of SSR GTV03? Looks like 17's, but iirc 17's they only make in 17x7 with 50 offset. 2. Where do I need to send the money, so you can make me a custom exhaust. Cuz seriously, you fab job is awesome! Keep up the great work! |
Quote:
Thanks! 1) The SSR GTV03s are 18x8.5 +44 square with a 5mm spacer in the front and 10mm spacer in the rear. 2) I don't want to infringe on your vendor rules, but if you'd like to talk I wouldn't mind hearing what you had in mind for a design. I think you were up at 86fest at Summit Point this year, which means you probably aren't too terribly far away from me ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

As for the vendor rule goes on this, as long you don't make a continuously business out of it. Example, just say you did make a custom exhaust & say I posted the exhaust everywhere and you start getting crazy amount of request for custom exhaust. When you start making custom exhaust every wk or even a month and advertising it on the forum, THEN that'll be going against forum vendor rule. If you just keep your work in member journal and not advertise it, I don't see anything wrong with it. FYI 86Fest is in Cali & I missed this year's 86Fest. You mean 86EXPO? If that's the case, I flew there lol I have several friends up there :) I'll PM you later more detail on the idea. For now, I'm hangry and I need to eat first. |
