Veteran plates
For those who have served or currently serving the Canadian forces. Hamilton and a few other cities are piloting a program for those with veteran plates can park for free on city roads. I am currently serving, so I wanted to give it a shot. And yeah it works :)
I hope this goes beyond than just a few cities! :) especially Toronto. That would be amazing! |
Dang, knew I should have got vet plates instead of a normal vanity plate.
|
It applies to Calgary as well
Started here I believe. |
I've had Vet plates for years and get screwed everytime. Even when I was standing right there saying "Im leaving" the idiot still gave me the ticket. That shit doesnt work in Toronto. Immigrants are flooding this city and fukin everyone over including combat vets. He barely even spoke English. After handing me the ticket he told me I could fight it in court. (**** move) I told him to gear up and go fight in Afghanistan like I once did.
These ***s are out here giving tickets to veterans who've sacrificed more than you can imagine.... Come back home and get treated like a bag of dirt!!! Way to go Canada.... |

Thank you for your service, but cut the fucking xenophobic bullshit. You're embarrassing your self. |

Serving and a sense of entitlement because of it doesn't work in my world. Veteran plates do not exempt people from the law so if Toronto doesn't have the program then a ticket is warranted. I have zero use for veterans that feel they are "owed" something for serving. |

I served because I'm Canadian and love my country not for a sense of entitlement. Any soldier who has served in combat shoud be allowed free parking on any public road in Canada. I understand the law is the law, but going out of your way to be a **** and handing out tickets while you could have easily diverted bothers me. Allowing people who lack in Canadian culture and barely speak a word of English to become parking enforcement officers also bothers me. We're not asking to get away with speedig tickets or crime... we're asking for free parking. Its not alot to ask when you've risked your life in combat everyday for 365 days

First of all, if you want free parking then I suggest you write to city council and pursue the matter with VAC. Second, he didn't go out of his way to be a ****. He was literally just doing his job. Third, what in the fuck is Canadian values? White European culture? Because I assure you it is not. Canada has been and always will be a nation of immigrants in a mosaic/melting pot. Do you know why immigrants get shit jobs like parking enforcement and other menial job? Because certain white people think it's beneath them and are too entitled to work them. Everything you've posted screams entitlement. |
Vet plates = free parking.... not alot of entitlement to ask for

It's not, and honestly I think that's a great idea, but the simple fact remains It's not a law as of yet so shitting on the guy for giving you a ticket and expecting to be above the law is textbook entitlement. |
Quote:
You were also supposed to be serving for everybody which includes those that immigrated here that you appear to feel entitled to shit on for doing their job. It is crap like this that has discouraged me from getting veteran plates. |
This should be deleted except for the first couple of posts.

Agreed, but there's no way in hell I'm letting some entitled white dude try to preach about his white Canada in a public forum about cars. |

Immigration was great until it became non-white...What a joke...We're all immigrants or the children of immigrants. Other than the true Natives, of course. |

You want to play that game? Five years MSE OP. Two years Germany during the cold war. First strike ground zero if a Soviet attack ever developed. The fact that it did not was meaningless for the tension back then. Two tours UN Peacekeeping Missions. Beruit and Sinai. Took mortar and small arms fire. The exposure to asbestos while paroling bombed out Beruit has taken at least two of the people I served with and could very well be the end of me some day in the foreseeable future. Seven years Navy Reserve retired as a Lieutenant Commander. No naval action in the 90s of course. Directly participated in three hazardous at sea rescues and two body retrieval missions. I am in no way undermining your service history but simply CAN NOT STAND a feeling of entitlement because of it. We choose to serve and if the public wishes to show appreciation for that then wonderful. I do not expect nor demand special treatment though. |

Did you not read what I said? You have no idea what an MSE OP is? Commissioned officer is beyond your understanding? You think I am "pretending"? |
Quote:
MSE OP officer?... you barely know what carrying a ruck sack feels like. Did you at least serve in Afghanistan? |
Quote:
No I did not serve in Afghanistan. Did you serve under constant threat of nuclear attack? Don't recall seeing you in the Sinai or Beruit. |

I was in an IED blast myself and my back and lower disks are done. I ask for free parking because vets like myself benefit from it I dont feel entitlement for anything besides free parking... |

Task Force 3-08 and Task Force 1-10 Almost got killed twice on my first tour and second tour got hit with an IED |

The RCR Coolaid is strong with you though. The infantry is NOT the only working or hazardous arm of the military. You knew the job when you took it. Does not give you the right to spew off racist crap because you feel you should be exempt from tickets. |
Entitlement? I think any veteran who served in a battle deserves free parking, i think its stupid how they havent made that a thing yet.
Parking enforcement in toronto are mostly all **** heads looking to give the most possible tickets at the end of day. Doesnt matter if your a vet or a firefighter... they will do anything to fuck you... jdm_import does have a point I dont blame him for lashing out.... stupid non english speaking immigrants taking all our jobs and they cant even speak english lmao |

Im just kidding i have nothing agaisnt immigrants... Im an immigrant myself lol

Some people would actually say that and mean it. That's the messed up part. That level of bigotry should be joke, but it's real these days. |
Quote:
It is free parking. What can it possibly save you a year? Pretty sure the vet plates are losing all meaning anyway. I see dozens a day. There can not possibly be that many Canadian COMBAT vets around. When any 18 year old that has never left mommy's basement but is currently serving in the Reserves are eligible they become meaningless. They need to tighten up the criteria if they want to start giving benefits for having them. Not necessarily a combat requirement (only 10% actually see direct combat) but at least a time/mission perquisite. |

Im a veteran myself and I do not feel any sense of entitlement. I have no probems with multiculturalism and diversity, in fact our country and freedoms are built upon that. Isnt that what we fight for |
