GrimmSpeed Review

I guess the best way to do this is to post up one thread per vendor? I'll even do a rate them poll with 1-5 stars on their service/products. I'll start with the first item that I got for my FR-S. The GrimmSpeed License Plate Relocator Kit. I still haven't received my FR-S yet but GrimmSpeed was very quick with the order and shipping. Submitted my order and two days later, arrived at my doorstep. Great and speedy service. Quality was excellent as well. I can't wait to put it on my car. Will update post with pictures when I get some.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Edit: 8/10/12 I just got my Limited Edition Oil Cap from Grimmspeed today. Wow was that thing beautiful. Again, very fast shipping and very satisfied customer. Looking forward to their battery tie down! On a side note, I just got my license plates today as well... I'll get around to installing it this weekend and update with pictures.

Edit: 8/28/12 Finally got off my butt and took some pictures of the license plate relocation kit. Enjoy!

I want to get that license plate relocator as well because I didn't have the dealer drill those nasty holes in the bumper but too bad the kit is backed up till late july :sigh:. The grimmspeed 3port EBCS I use in my evo is boss they make some good sh** wouldn't expect less from grimmspeed.. once the turbo market comes out for the FR-S or BRZ. I would buy grimspeed products anyday. I rate them..

5 of 5 Stars

finch1750 06-26-2012 02:25 PM

Yep. Same here. Paid for my relocator and got it two days later. I don't even have my plates yet though. Hopefully they hurry up and get here so I can install it. +1 for Grimmspeed (and I second what Gamiam said about their EBCS, had it on my STi before this and it was awesome)

F1point4 06-26-2012 05:52 PM

Got in on the group buy for the number plate relocator. Justin @ GrimmSpeed was very polite and quick on PM responses. I can't remember how long shipping took but it was 2-3 days, well in advance of getting my official number plates. Box was packed well by Alex @ GrimmSpeed and they gave many extras like decals and frames. I would do business with them again.

Here is my review of the product and its install.

great guys!

Think I was one of the few Canadian in the groupbuy and I sent payment but it did not cover the cost of shipping but the guys at Grimmspeed covered it for me as they didn't have clear Canadian prices up!

Thumbs up from me  came before my car did and everyone that sees it loves it!

Make sure to write a review for them on their trader rating page for them as that will be more effective as it will follow them on every post they start.

Love their DIY threads.

No experience yet with the FR-s, however great products and customer service when I dealt with them with the Evo.

Purchased a GrimmSpeed plate relocation kit for my WRX and ended up not using it. Contacted the GS guys about swapping out the main bolt, since everything else is the same. They said 'no problem.'

Good company!

Ricepuddin 07-30-2012 07:11 PM

I just received my plate relocation kit today and figured I'd give my two cents on my experience.

I ordered my kit 2 weeks ago after normal business hours. The next day I got a phone call from one of the guys at GS (sorry guys I'm terrible with names) telling me it was sold out and my order would ship the following week. To me this great, I would have been okay with an e-mail, but a call is more personal and shows me that as a customer I'm worth more than a generic auto email. I don't hate those emails, but a call is a welcome change.

The kit shipped when I was told it would and got here in about two days (not counting Sunday).

I'll review the product later once it's been on awhile, but it seems to be of good quality, installation, was pretty easy.

Keep up the good work guys, look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Bought: Limited Edition Oil Cap
Buying in the future: Limited Edition Battery Tie Down, License Plate Kit, and much more

Best in the biz! I seriously love those guys. Their dedication to the 86 community is something to be admired and you can tell they care about more than just making a profit. Their flexibility, transparency, and willingness to accept ideas from the community regarding the development of their products are just some of the reasons why that is.

Bought: LE Oil Cap
Future Purchases: MC Brace, any other cool parts ^_^

As a person dealing with Grimmspeed in the past for my current LGT, they did not disappoint with the oil cap GB. They have supported the Subaru community for a while, and I know Grimmspeed will provide the 86/FR-S/BRZ plenty of affordable and reliable parts.

Have not purchased anything from them (yet) but I went down to their shop a couple days after I got my FR-S and they were some of the nicest car guys I have ever met. They gave us a full tour of the shop, rides in their STI followed by a cruise. These guys are dedicated and passionate about what they do! Class act of a small business, always using local companys if they need to outsource. It was refreshing to see that its all about the cars and customers first!

Purchased License Relocation Kit

Received a personal call to inform me of the status of my delivery. Packaged arrived with a signed card of who had packaged it. Good to know!
Also, did not know at first, but the kit came with 2 license plate frames. Awesome surprise for me.

Ditto the guy above me. Order processed and shipped quickly and I got a voice mail on my home phone informing me of it. Installed the plate yesterday and got the car inspected today.

Paid for my oil cap Thursday morning and got in the mail Saturday. Fast shipping and the oil cap looks great like grimmspeed promised. I know if I need parts in the future I will check with grimmspeed first

The products and exclusive editions are very good quality. The service i like even transport to spain.

finch1750 08-28-2012 11:10 AM

Happy with them once again. Got my limited oil filter in a while back. Didn't notice it was missing the o-ring until I traded it but they took care of me straight away.

The most important thing is their commitment to the community. They didn't estimate pricing on the oil cap right, but stuck to the original price point for the first run. Now that is how to get returning customers (that and wanting all the limited stuff to match) ::lol:

pinoyplaya 09-30-2012 09:22 PM

@GrimmSpeed, does this kit come with the GrimmSpeed license plate holder x2 (one for front and one for back)?

Also, I'm located in MN and noticed that you guys are too.... can I pick it up directly from your factory/store/shop?

DaJo 09-30-2012 10:19 PM

Purchased one of Grimmspeed's License plate relocator kit and it fits on my BRZ perfectly!

Top notch quality stuff; very sturdy and still looks nice!

I was part of the groupbuy when they introduced this; did not even hesitate and got it even before I got the car!

5/5 from DaJoian!

Of course it does! They are momentarily out of stock but they should be back in stock early next week. Give a call before you drop by to make sure we have one ready for you. -Matt Homes

Couple years ago I had a GS uppipe on WRX that I bought used. After a little while it appeared that the flex section had blown out so I called and spoke to Mike who asked me for the name of the previous owner; I had a brand new GS uppipe on my car later that week at no cost to me.

Don't know if they're still like that, but I was pretty surprised at the time.

Thanks for the kind words! That's the level of customer service that the company was built on, it's part of our company mission and it's what you can expect, every single time you deal with us! Cheers!

Installed my GS hood struts yesterday. Due to my own klutziness, I lost their 10mm bottom bracket bolt, and completed the job with the OEM short bolt. GS is sending me a replacement bolt, no charge.

Awesome product, awesome customer service. And Made in the USA to boot!

This is the kind of company I want to spend my money with.

are you guys making a model specific bracket for your EBCS? I'll be running it with my FI, and if not, I'll make one and send you the CAD drawings afterwards.

5/5, bought oil cap and hood struts. May end up grabbing the sway bar in the future.

Glad the guys were able to get your squared away and thanks for the kind words! We're all enthusiasts and definitely know what it's like to drop a nut/bolt or two.

We've thought about it but don't currently have anything in the works! If you come up with something neat, shoot me an email with your ideas!

How does the license plate relocation kit fare in automatic (tunnel) car washes? Do I have to remove it before going in?
What about heavy rainstorms? I live in Seattle and we get that a lot :/

Rainstorms should be fine. I would remove for car washes tbh, not because it wont fare well, but because you should remove any external protrsions that could get stuck to the brushes.
