Few things that caught my eyes at SEMA

I had a chance to go to this year's SEMA. After getting rained on (which I heard it never rained in SEMA before) and freezing weather in Vegas, but I think it was worth going walking around Las Vegas Convention Center for 3 days.

http://i.imgur.com/WcChVBo.jpg
After take some photos... found few twin related things that caught my eyes that you guys might be interested as well.

First thing first, sorry not posting this thread til now. That cold & wet weather in Vegas got me and I've caught pretty bad cold. Finally recovered, so I'm going through all the photos and notes I've taken and posting it fast as I can.

AVO Turboworld Transmission Cooler
http://i.imgur.com/BApBXIi.jpg

First one is AVO Turboworld. We know their production for a long time, they're one of the first company made turbo kit for our cars. Their turbo kit can make modest 240whp to over 400whp crazy FRS/BRZ. I wanted to see if they had new product for us.

http://i.imgur.com/a7ETub2.jpg
While I was taking a photo of their turbo kit, I've notice something different from "usual" display. I've seen their oil cooler kit few year's back at 86Fest...

http://i.imgur.com/2nE0lpd.jpg
What I see is another cooler kit. To be correct, it's automatic transmission cooler kit. Now, a lot of you are thinking "Why AT need cooler?" Not only MT owner boost their cars, AT owners like and do boost their cars as well. Transmission is same concept with engine or LSD, when it heats up too much, it doesn't perform properly and this kit resolve this issue.

I, myself drive MT, but several of my friends own and race their boosted auto FRS/BRZ. Summer time, heat in transmission can cause slip or damage the gears. Result, time lost or worse new transmission.

I'm not sure when this kit will be release, but I've heard kit will cost around $715. For more detail PM AVOturboworld.

Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger Kit
http://i.imgur.com/4IKJeVE.jpg

Let's be honest here, Edelbrock's Supercharger have been hot topic for several months in FRS/BRZ community. Edelbrock is well known and respected brand worldwide. They make parts for muscle cars, stylish European cars, compact Japanese cars and much more.

http://i.imgur.com/tITMUo1.jpg
I heard Edelbrock had booth at the SEMA, I had to go check it out and I knew they will have their new Supercharger kit for our car will be there and I wasn't wrong!

http://i.imgur.com/mqc8fRg.jpg
Few shops who had a chance to install this kit can back me up on this, but when you get this kit, this kit literally comes with EVERYTHING. You don't need to go to store picking up extra hoses. It sounds normal thing, but now days, it's rare to see those kind thing, but Edelbrock did it! No extra parts!

http://i.imgur.com/QycheMN.jpg
Another cool thing about this kit is the looks. They made the design simple, instead of complicated. You don't see weird hoses or wires wrapping around or coming out. Of course this is display engine, so missing several things. BUT even with display engine, I've seem complicated and weird engine displaying at the SEMA, well not for Edelbrock.

For more info, you can find it in FI section of the thread: Edelbrock SC or Edelbrock Owner thread

Fujitsubo Exhaust System
http://i.imgur.com/pyigUlr.jpg

At the Cusco booth, they were displaying new Miata with mikos (at photo will come later)... but there were shiny part that caught my eyes. Which was Fujitsubo exhaust system for our cars!

http://i.imgur.com/cpAYGfr.jpg
Specially their header. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's header they sell in Japan.
http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/imglib/la...0000004773.jpg

As you can see, they took out the cat, focusing on performance and track oriented. And yes, it's equal length header like JP ver.

http://i.imgur.com/cERPWvE.jpg
EL header is tension-relieved, form-treated, tested in Super Taikyu Endurance extensively not only for power but exact fit, and crack-resistant resilience.

http://i.imgur.com/6m5awl6.jpg
Their quality is surperb! Some may complain that Fujitsubo is costly, but they only make top quality parts as you can see from the photos I've posted.

http://i.imgur.com/Gz4gB75.jpg
Not to forget, their AR Version II Prototype looks amazing as well! This is Prototype, but we hope to see the final ver soon.

Good news is, Fujitsubo is coming to US. Estimate late December, so if you're interested, start saving up! Hope to get more detail info later.

Maxxis Victra VR-1
http://i.imgur.com/2FlZkhr.jpg

Maxxis made 200tw tires oriented for SCCA Autocrossers out there. Don't have full detail at the moment... but I know is first batch 6 sizes and 245/40-17 won't be one of them. Only 17's their bringing out is 255/45-17 (iirc). They're hoping to bring difference sizes in second or third batch.

Only time will tell how well this tire will perform in autocross and other motorsport races.

I'll be posting other photos in 86EXPO fb page (cuz a lot of photos are not FRS/BRZ related).

Thanks

ichi

I was planning to order the Authorize R this month from Japan, but what is the difference between Ver.1 and Ver.2?

Also, i wonder how pricing will be...however i think for us Canadians it's still cheaper to buy from Japan then US cause of the dollar difference haha.

Ya it is weird that you can have something shipped half way around the world and still save 10 or 15%.

Damn! Right in the middle of Mrs. Ultra's nap. In the doghouse again.

Ichi's on point with the marketing. :D

Fujitsubo header looks interesting. Apparent are deliberate choices made in the collectors and downstream tube diameters.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

IDK too detail on Ver 1 vs ver 2 difference, but one of the major difference between those 2 is mod friendly. Example ver 1 won't let you have TRD or Cusco rear chassis brace if you have Fujitsubo exhaust. Fujitsubo have looked into this issue along with other mods from the fans & tuners and fixed this issue.

As for the price, they're finalizing the price at that mement and didn't give me the exact quote. I wouldn't expect too much difference from Japan.

I feel like now that edelbrock is in the supercharger game, there could be a TRD branded supercharger in the future, I remember reading somewhere that the Tundra TRD superchargers were similar in design to some Edelbrock stuff

I don't think you will ever see a production supercharger from TRD.
Toyota has discontinued the TRD superchargers for the Tacoma and Tundra.

According to the pedometer on my phone, I walked over 19 miles throughout the convention. My legs were literally Jell-O by the third day.

My pebble watch claim, I took 78,000 steps. That's near 40 miles in 3 days...

I highly doubt I walked 40 miles in that 3 days, but I totally know your pain. Next time, I'm bringing my walking/running shoes lol

I'm thinking since it's Vegas, they work on more than just the foot.

Not sure on tC, but you're correct on the headlights. This was taken at Winjet booth.
