Reverse lockout is stiff

Hey guys so i have a problem and idk how to fix it, hoping one of you guys can help me out :) So whenever I lift up my reverse lockout to go into reverse it gets stuck, i am able to put it in reverse but when i take it out of reverse and put it in neutral the lever doesn't fall back down it stays up.

If you have the stock shift knob just pry down the grey plastic collar and you'll see white plastic which is the plastic slipper for the lockout lever to slide against. Get some spray lithium grease and spray a little between the white slipper and the inside of the lockout lever.

Then you might want to check the lockout pin, it may be loose? defective or something as from memory it shouldn't be moving/rotating while raising it.

You mean the slippy tape, or is there more wrong? Apologies if my joke came off sounding serious. I don't have a spare. :(

Did you get the roll pin out of the lockout knob ok?

shern 11-03-2015 09:10 PM

Yeah man everything came out fine, idk when i lift up the lever it twists slightly to the right, i had a shift knob stuck on there that wouldn't come out so i used a pipe wrench to get mor torque and it took a lot of pressure for it to come off so idk if i messed something small or i have to replace the whole thing :(

Oh, it's fucked. The lever is not solid down lower. It's hollow with a slot that houses the return spring for the lockout mechanism. You twisted it.

It's worth $170 bucks to remove the whole thing and see if you can repair it.

Do NOT try to twist it back while it's installed. The pin in the shift linkage is the only thing that keeps it from rotating. You absolutely don't want to damage that.

Packofcrows 11-03-2015 11:55 PM

if under 35k gogo dealer forgot to mention

Yeah. The pin in the shift linkage is pretty stout but don't take any more chances. I still say take it out and try twisting it back. I bet it will be ok.

you might need to regrease the botton joint, but there's some extra grease left that I didn't use on my kartboy.
