Do the wing mirrors fold in??

For anyone who has their car already, or any dealers who have demo cars.
Have you guys tried folding your wing mirrors inwards(physically)?

RZ86 06-24-2012 09:17 AM

they're electronically folding mirrors. i wouldn't force them to fold in. there's a button near the window controls. it's pretty handy.

Ravine 06-24-2012 09:22 AM

Yep. They fold in with a press of a button. Car needs to be on though.

Is there an auto function?

Nope. Switch is on the drivers door near power window switches.

In theory, it sounds like a relatively simple hack to get them to open/close automagically.. but I wouldn't want to mess anything up just yet haha.

If it could be somehow set to fold with door locks.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Dead locked car effectively, using remote or door handle.

FT-86GOD 06-26-2012 03:06 AM

We all need to keep an eye and ear out for someone working out how to activate when locking and unlocking the car... Would be great to have it automated.... Even just when engine is turned on or off.....

Nafe 06-26-2012 04:54 AM

No we don't. FRS isn't same spec as GTS.

Before you go modifying anything, there are some options that can be turned on/off at the dealer. I'm a technician at a Toyota dealer. We can use our computer to plug in and turn a few things on/off. Can't give the full list now, its just a few things. Like headlights on buzzer, seatbelt buzzer, passenger seatbelt buzzer, doorlock control, boot release with remote...

When can u give full list?..... Certainly would like seatbelt buzzers switched off.... So long as its through program and not just pulling the sensor plug... As i know this effects airbag deployment..

Can we turn of the horn when we remotely lock/open the door?
It's very annoying now.:mad0260:

Our demo cars don't sound the horn either. I'll ask the PD guys tomorrow about switchable settings.

JDM-dono 06-26-2012 07:16 AM

I'm crossing my fingers that the BRZ will have this, I have a really narrow pathway leading from the the driveway to the garage at the back of the house (picture the side of the house separated from the fence on the right side of the house by just enough space to allow a car to pass through ... nerve racking each time I drive out/in)

I saw a photo with mirrors folded in on one, which struck me as an odd thing to do when you want to photograph your car :P but makes sense having read this thread. So unless they delete it in Aus spec, which I'd doubt, I'd say it will have it.

Jonny Rochester 06-27-2012 07:19 AM

Yes, the horn chirp is an option you can turn off.

I brought a car home but I forgot the owners manual. Will check first thing tomorrow morning. It can't be too hard... Hopefully.

znelbok 06-27-2012 07:43 AM

My colt had folding mirrors. To get them to fold from the remote you pressed the button twice. One would lock the car and the second would fold the mirrors.

Thanks for checking it out. Would you have any idea how and can it be done by the dealer only?
