All of it until it's maxed out, then add a little bit more.

1.21 gigawatts is the precise amount of power you need to be producing.

But how many are still granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should.

Neither do I, who needs them! We should start our own clutchless club with blackjack and hookers. In fact forget the club and blackjack. Ah screw the whole thing.

"What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Alright, to answer your question is not a simple answer. It requires a few variables to be taken in to consideration such as:
  • What you plan on doing with the car
  • Supporting modifications you are willing to do
  • How much money you have to spend
  • What you are comfortable driving
  • If you have a daily driver to use

The best place to help answer this question would be here:

Hope this helps!

Braces 10-18-2015 11:51 AM

Where's the OP? Lots of carefully thought out answers here.

EAGLE5 10-18-2015 11:56 AM

You guys are being a bit rude. Looking at his old posts, they're not all idiotic.

The short answer is that there is no perfect amount of horsepower.

The medium answer is MOAR!

The long answer is that it depends on the car's setup and purpose. I'd be satisfied with a couple thousand.

There need be no limit to the amount of power that the engine can deliver. Remember that your foot controls the application of power.

So, build the drivetrain with as much power as you can afford and much like spices, dispense to taste.

If you want a feel for what can be done with the FRS chassis and high torque swaps, look no further than the Miata V8 conversions. There are plenty around, and I can tell you from experience that they are amazing to drive in a way that no 4 cylinder Twin could ever hope to be.

totopo 10-19-2015 02:07 PM

1000 hp seems like a decent starting point.

If I had the money I would go for 2500hp just to say I could.... but I am poor :(

raven1231 10-19-2015 02:32 PM

But but but....power throws off the "feels" everyone :(

The proper engine swap is a Pratt & Whitney F119.

My sister works for Pratt and used to sell those...

F22 Raptors used this engine if I recall correctly...

Maybe we can setup a group buy? :D
