WORK Emotion CR Kiwami

I will be ringing WORK Wheels Australia tomorrow about pricing regarding some 18x8.5 +38 and 18x9.5 +38 Emotion CR Kiwami in matt black.

Will post the quote here as there is no pricing on their website, and these size/offset rims will be a 'custom PCD'. I'll also let you know if they will offer any sort of discount for a group buy.

Good luck.

Most likely to cost a mint :D

Any reason why you are going to for staggered?

Just for fitment? or other reasons?

Mainly for fitment. I was originally going to get matt black 18x8 +45 Advan RG-D's all round, but then saw the post in the wheels/suspension thread and now prefer the look and fitment of these. If the Kiwami's turn out to be a ridiculously expensive amount, I will go back to the Advan RG-D's.

That's matte black =/

blags 06-24-2012 12:27 AM

These will be cheaper then Advan's, if you want a decent price from a company in Aus, try JDM concept, will be about 1900-2000

Nardi330 06-24-2012 12:33 AM

Yes JDM concept would be a good source. Shipping from Syd to Bne is around $100 for a set (need confirm). But i was told u have to run coilovers to fit this size.

Btw the wheels on the white BRZ above is matte bronze.

I'm in for group buy!!

EDIT: I think 18x8.5+38 on 5x100 is custom size too and costs 6000 yen extra each usually. Need to confirm with seller.

ToF 06-24-2012 12:48 AM

These were going to be my wheels too. If any one gets them, plpease post pics of fitment and your wheel specs/suspension (coilovers/lowered springs). Thanks.

Yeah, I know about JDM Concept, but I figure the best price would come from the official manufacturer/importer, ie Work Wheels Australia.

Plus, the JDM Concept site doesn't say what the pricing is for the custom PCD that I'll require. Will be interesting to compare the prices between them anyway.

Flushness looks ok but the issue might be too wide over stock. That's 2.5" wider....

QIK86 06-24-2012 03:37 AM

if there is a decent dicount with a group buy count me in.

Damn, you might be right regarding the width (please note this is for Queensland):

"The maximum tyre width for a car or car derivative must
not be more than 1.3 times the vehicle manufacturer’s
widest optional tyre.
However, for an off-road passenger vehicle fitted with
front and rear beam axles, the maximum tyre width
must not be more than 1.5 times the vehicle
manufacturer’s widest optional tyre.
The nominal width of the narrowest tyre fitted to a
vehicle must not be less than 70 per cent of the nominal
width of the largest tyre fitted and never less than the
vehicle manufacturer’s narrowest optional tyre as
indicated on the manufacturer’s tyre placard."

Just did some calculations, the GTS stock tyres are 215/45/R17. So 1.3 x 215 = 279.5 it should be ok then?

DriftEightSix 06-24-2012 04:36 AM

FYI. TRD Wheels which are an option right right :D

18 inch Aluminum Wheel 'SF2' (Forged) *5 *6
(Size : 18x7.5J , 100-5H , Inset46)
*Reference Tire Size 225/40ZR18
*TRD Monoblock Brake Kit compatible

Nardi330 06-24-2012 04:37 AM

Cool. Only max tyre width? No max wheel width?

Is that's the case us QLDers are safe!!

Bring it on!!!!

How about group buy for coilovers?? Lol

exactly the same design. different sizes and colour.

btw is the 86 5x120 PCD?

Nardi330 06-24-2012 05:43 AM

Similar design but not exactly the same. Kiwami has deeper concave.

Cai is being phased out and they might not produce custom size.

PCD is 5x100

sirus 06-24-2012 06:25 AM

Kiwami are lighter than Kai.

From JDMConcept web site:
WORK Wheels has introduced a new version of Emotion Cr Kai, EMOTION CR KIWAMI. This new wheel utilizes WORK Flowforming Technology.

The key benefit for flow forming is the ability to reduce the barrel thickness, thus reducing the weight of the wheel without compromising the strength of the rim barrel.

WORK flow forming wheels start with low-pressure cast construction, whereas some of our competitors use lower quality gravity casting.

Low-pressure cast construction has a denser material property over gravity cast wheels, thus allowing a greater strength advantage over gravity cast with flow-forming barrel.

Work 35th Anniversary special for the whole year of 2012.

stock wheels arn't round ;)

Kenno 06-24-2012 09:44 AM

Just double-checked in regards to the width of the wheels. It would seem all is ok here too
(Again, this is just for Queensland)

"General conditions for alternative rims and tyres

The rims and tyres must not protrude beyond the bodywork of the vehicle, including flares, when viewed from above with the wheels facing straight ahead. If the vehicle was originally constructed with a portion of the wheel protruding, the wheels must not protrude further than originally constructed.

The tyre to rim fitting and the tyre to rim combination must be in accordance with the Tyre and Rim Standards Manual published by the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia. Reputable tyre retailers should have this
information and be able to advise on the correct combinations.

All rims fitted to an axle must be of the same diameter, width and offset. They must not have a circumferential weld other than that which attaches the outer rim to the centre. All rims must have stud hole pitch circle diameters suitable to the hub. Wheel nut tapers must be appropriate to the wheel and must engage the thread of the wheel studs for at least the same length as the nuts provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
Slotted and elongated stud holes are not permitted.

The fitting of spacers or adaptors between wheels and hubs, additional to those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, is not permitted. The tyre and rim must not foul wheel arches or suspension components under
any conditions. Steering limit stops must not be adjusted to reduce the turning circle in order to allow the fitting of the alternative rims and tyres.

The tyres must have a tread depth of at least 1.5mm on every part of the tyre that touches the road and not have any apparent defect that is likely to make the vehicle to which they are fitted unsafe. It is not permitted to fit tyres that have been treated by recutting or regrooving unless the tyre has been marked by the original manufacturer as ‘suitable for recutting or regrooving’."

spiller 06-24-2012 12:36 PM

I wouldnt get too caught up in all that leaglity bullshit. the cops who pull you over wont know the rules anyway, nor is there any way for them to measure the width of your wheel accurately. They tend to look more at offsets and wheels sticking out past the guard. The 9.5+38 doesnt protrude much at all, i think its perfect. I also think the 8.5 +30 would be better up front as opposed to +38.

jet86 06-24-2012 11:37 PM

Il be in for GB. I wouldn't mind trying to fit the 10.5 under the rear. Not scared to pump my gaurds if need be. If not then 9.5 all round. Ive seen some of these wheels in a multi-fit setup as you can see they have 2 sets of pcd pilot holes. Be nice to get some 5x100 and 5x114.3 so I can use them on some of my drift cars too.

The work emotions look like they are multistud but in actual fact they are not. I have CR Kais on my evo. Im not sure why the holes are there, perhaps to save weight?

I'm pretty sure they are forged with just pilot holes (around 8mm) and then are drilled to suit whatever application before the wheels are coated. I have a set of 17x9.5 cr Kai's in 5x114.3 and a while ago I measured that the other 8mm holes were 5x120.

I think you're right. obviously a cost cutting technique.
