doubt it'll see production but i'd like to see if yamaha could actually do a car
|
"Inspired by motorcycles"
That means compact, light, agile, insanely revvy up to 8k rpm+ and doesn't break the bank. |

The profile looks very cab-forward in design.

Nose reminds me of the Gen II Toyota MR2. Incidentally Yamaha hand a hand in designing the motors in the MR2.
|
|
If it really uses motorcycle engine, expect 15000rpm.

They could use the R1 engine with a turbo.

Yamaha should just shove one of their engines in the 86.
Boom! God Machine. |

Did they add a zero by accident? |
No, no added zeros. I guess there are some people out there with a lot of money, and Honda knows where they live.
To make it even more ludicrous- from Cycle World: -The European-spec bike has a claimed output of 157 peak horsepower at 11,000 rpm, while the U.S. machine will make 101 hp at 8,000 rpm. If it’s any consolation to potential American buyers, the Japanese domestic version is limited to 68 hp at 6,000 rpm. -There's a performance kit available to only the Euros for $12,000 that boosts HP to 212 at 13,000 rpm. I really would like to meet the people who buy this bike. I imagine it wouldn't be hard to separate them from their money. |

You mention motorcycle manufacture and concept car and I immediately think of this.
|
Yahama has designed many engines for Toyota and even had a hand in designing the engine in the original Taurus SHO. I doubt they'd actually make their own car but it would be cool if they showed a car they are building an engine for.
|
|
Didnt they help design the 4age?
|
Most of Toyota's performance engines were designed and/or built by Yamaha

Every time I hear of a motorcycle manufacturer venturing into cars or designing an engine for a car, all I can think of is the Smart Car with a Hayabusa engine in it:

But wow, I'm super excited for next week. Sounds like a lot of interesting things will be revealed. I was starting to get bored with the car industry. |
