Saturday mods. Exhaust tips and a bazooka tube.

It's been a long day. I will post pics in 10 min. Got my bazooka installed. 8 inches was perfect. I still have 3/4 of the trunk available. The guys who installed this had no clue what they were doing. It was sadly amateur hour. I've got to hide some wires myself. End result is fine.

I'll post my tips. I bit off of another forum member.

10 min.

I can't wait to see how it fits. My buddy had a bazooka tube in his F150... it really it's all you need to fill out the low end when your stock system isn't crap.

My Jeep's stock stereo blew majorly but I worked at a job that gave me steep discounts on mobile audio equipment. I got most of that system torn out and ready to go in my FR-S or sell. I might go a different route though in the interest of saving weight.

I've never been out to smash windows but high fidelity audio is important to me.

These are 3 8" JL w3v2s in a customer fiberglass enclosure filled with acoustic foam hooked up to a JL 500/1 set low. Combined with some polk components powered by a JL 300/4 and a high end pioneer head unit with 5v pre-outs. It was beautiful.

Most bazooka tubes are amplified (meaning the amp is part of the package).

Yeah it's amplified. :)

I'm happy I still have a trunk, and the sound is good. Feel like I'm 17 again. Lol. I haven rocked bazookas in 15 years.

mashal 06-23-2012 09:58 PM

Oh i seee, i dont know much about the bazookas. I saw another members set up with a w3 looks very slick

I used to own a Wrangler as well - it never occurred to me to put anything expensive in there. =)

Are the exhaust tips matte to begin with? I like the look.

They are matte black. DC sports Bolt on exhaust tips item number EX 1011B from Pep Boys. I think they were $25 each.

You can do that if you like... but I still prefer my setup and it was worth every penny!

I have since changed the position of the tube, I got rid of the straps. The tube moved around to much.

Its such an awesome set up. I have it pressed up against the back seat parallel to the back seat. It is held in place by a single 6 inch bracket bent at a 90 degree angle screwed into the top of the tube, and the back seat. Has not budged in 6 months.

For future reference, install the bazooka yourself.

Dude I stood in amazement when I was able to change shower heads, and use water sealing tape correctly. Like I built a castle.

I would not be able to install the tube myself.

You should have seen me Saturday for two hours trying to figure out if I put a drop in filter correctly. Its some sad shit man.

My girl tells me oh my car is making funny noises, so I pop the hood and say oh timing belt looks good, carburetor's ok, lets take it in to get looked at. Like I know what I am talking about. So I don't look impotent.

100 Watt. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002QYS8W/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Bazooka BTA8100 BT Series 8-Inch 100-Watt Amplified Tube Subwoofer: Car Electronics[/ame]

Having been through the HS years with the crazy system I was very skeptical of going with an inexpensive choice like the Bazooka. In the end I picked the BTA10250D on sale for $125 and gave it a shot, it was too cheap to pass up.

It's light, easy to remove quickly, and sounds surprisingly good. It adds more than enough bass. Best bang for the buck I have seen yet for this car. Highly recommended.

First post!

The bazooka tubes do put out a surprising amount of bass for their size and wattage. I was about to buy one for mine as they are really easily removed for track days when I found this guy.

A little pricey but it is tiny and has the amp built in and is easily removable (1 molex connector and 2 straps)

'Zookas weren't cheap when I was in high school, but then again, that was when you could build most of the amps available from parts at Radio Shack. Ask me how I know... Only up until about early/mid-2000's, they were twice the price.

If'n you aren't going to audio competitions, this will work in most hatches for less money and with 80-95% effectiveness.

I was so scared a bazooka tube was some sort of ridiculous exhaust.
