Thanks Cloud9!

Also not sure anyone notice the front fender vent. It used to be higher up and a lot smaller, but now it's in different spot and a lot bigger.

alexmotrix 02-12-2011 03:35 PM

is it really the ft86II or just an other rendering by a photochopper???

It seems to me like it's kind of in between the original concept's vent and the G's larger vent.

This is still a 'chop but it's looking pretty production-y.

Car has a goofy grin...

RRnold 02-12-2011 09:03 PM

The front looks very similar to the Geneva teaser pic! I have a feeling we are getting a more realistic picture of what the final car may look like.

They got rid of the rear cf diffuser and made it one complete unit for the exhaust. The taillight also seems to have included the clear lenses and flushed in the lic plate.

Overall, I'm content and glad it didn't change too much! Hope the Toyota emblem stays... :respekt:

Terrari 02-13-2011 01:15 AM

What the hell is up with all these empty warehouse pictures?

ft86cbx 02-13-2011 05:31 AM

I dont mind the reworking of the rear, but from the 2nd image (head on) it looks to be more narrow and higher compared to the low and wide stance of the original concept.

I know the bonnet needed raising for "safety" reasons, but I hope this rendering is exaggerating the change as I dont like the second image anywhere near as much as the concept.

Suspension also looks high now, but that was to be expected, and nothing that cant be sorted ;)

70NYD 02-13-2011 06:09 AM

Nice. This looks more production ready :) now if someone can find the dimensions pictures of the original 86 concept we can see how much it grew and changed :)
Nm I just realized in the 4th photo (side) if you look at the windows you can see greenery through the glass on the other side of the car. These are just chops :)
Still wonder if the dimensions are right ;)

dalli 02-13-2011 01:36 PM

and i was liking these concept pics >.>

XpLiCiT_CaShh 02-13-2011 11:32 PM

Guys.. 3rd diagram, side view, has the tree shrubbery inside the cabin.. intial pics??:sigh:

Wheel arches dont seem to match up to me.. its a chop.. may be close but i wouldnt take too much from it

Cant work out that grill.. Lazy Chubby shark-like.. or silently agressive..
:paddle:

Sport-Tech 02-14-2011 04:15 AM

Not digging the acres of bland, high butt on this version... the bottom of the taillights need to be dropped down more to eat up some of that excess plastic.

No, it is the new Monty Python edition...

Siriusly.Andrew 02-14-2011 02:22 PM

I'd like to have seen the rear diffuser stay, even if it wasn't in CF. The back looks boring now :/ And the front looks messed up too, The fenders are all wrong. I'm going to stop looking, because I keep finding more things I don't like lol

It does look more boring and I kind of like that; like a blank canvas!

I had a feeling the rear diffuser wouldn't make the final cut. I'm sure the aftermarket companies will make one. The concepts to production models always seem to lose the "cool" bits; trick spoilers, wheel setup, interior details etc.

Jordo! 02-14-2011 03:50 PM

Ehhh... it's okay.
Can someone chop this next to the other concept to compare and contrast (and also make the new one red?).

But would it really have been that hard to make a plastic version of that diffuser, it was so awesome and I'd imagine functional in some way. It doesn't have to be CF to be cool, and I don't think molding a plastic diffuser would jack up the costs to build one of these cars any.

Midship Runabout 02-14-2011 08:16 PM

a diffuser on a street car is completely worthless. sure they look fast but so do hood scoopes on mustangs

It's not a matter of difficulty but rather a matter of efficiency, cost cutting and uniformity. I don't think it would have served any purpose other than cosmetics since the car isn't lowered, there isn't a chin spoiler and the undercarriage isn't sealed off to channel the air to the rear.

Dimman 02-14-2011 10:59 PM

But even something cosmetic like the Mazda 3 has:

http://www.cardata.com/spoilers/imag...rs/Mazda_3.jpg

Would 'lighten' the chubby looking rear of the car.

Siriusly.Andrew 02-14-2011 11:16 PM

Yeah looking at the FT-86 II tail shot is like tailing a mini-van with no kids in the back seat to make faces at -- stupidly boring.

1300kg?!!??!

Psshhawww!!!! I don't believe anything from this scan, even the look, after reading that.

No way in HELL the car is going to be that heavy.

+1 That is almost similar the current WRX weight! I really hope they are wrong.

70NYD 02-17-2011 04:50 PM

My rx8 is 1300kg and with that 180kw isn't Bad, but if they are saying that this car would be 1300kg and at the same time have like 130-150kw.. Failblog.org

Allch Chcar 02-20-2011 11:04 PM

0-62mph in 7.7 seconds
196BHP @ 7000RPM(RPM from another article)
151FT-lbs @4500RPM(RPM from another article)
2866lbs Curb weight

This might just be oft repeated rumors. I've heard similar numbers repeated over and over. That isn't that bad for this range. But if you insist on hyping your expectations more that this you will be disappointed.

The best part is that 200lbs is probably "disposable."

kawazydude 02-22-2011 02:54 AM

uuugggghhh... iono bout u guys, but i hate the headlights on the "new" ft-86 ii. i hate the fact that the eyes droop down, sorta like the gen coupe, rather than swooping up in the original concept, which makes the eyes look freakin evil rather than stupid and goofy lookin as it does now.

*sigh... i'm even more sad since these headlights on these pics seem to be consistent with the teaser pic, which makes me fear that the headlights will indeed look like that.

i'll jus have to hope for the best until the geneva motor show...

Sport-Tech 02-22-2011 12:02 PM

With the elimination of the side air ducts on the front fascia the bumper now looks way too massive and bland near the wheel wells.
