Got mine, it's awesome - especially the cluster/wheel area. You could tell me it's an 60K car and I'd believe you.

Obviously the other stuff like the center console, glove box, trunk/seat fabric is economy class, but I think it works. There's a hidden 12V plug in the glove box so you can charge your phone/ipod in there.

Break in is rough in that need to keep it under 4k but honestly even under 4 I was zipping around most traffic today. Felt as quick as my chipped 02 1.8T in traffic - with no lag though which is great.

I did cackle out loud on my first open off ramp though. No body roll and the suspension is firm but not harsh at all. They really got it right.

Put both kids seats in, wife and I drove out for dinner, no issues at all. Wouldn't want to do a long road trip as the kids have no window but it will be great for shuttling them around and then having some fun. Neither of us were cramped at all, and getting them in and out wasn't as bad as I though it would be.

Can't wait for autoX!

Great to hear you're enjoying your new car! I wish you many safe and happy miles in that car with the family!

Wait to the kids get a little bigger.... :)

That five-point harness she's wearing...is that JDM? I've been looking for something like that.

Luvzgod 06-23-2012 01:20 AM

How much did you pay

My local dealership has one but they are adding $4999 to the MSRP,no joke

rikdrt1 06-23-2012 01:30 AM

Not from what I can see. My kids car seats have the same harness set up.

Pscylo 06-23-2012 08:13 AM

The look on that kids face...."Take that picture punk, 13 years and this car is mine."

Z M_GTS_86 06-23-2012 08:38 AM

Great photo with the kids in back. I have put my order in for black GTS 86. Looking forward to taking my two and half year old son for a drive. I think he will love it as much as I will. However I think he might turn three by the time the car gets delivered.

 so true

F-Bomb 06-23-2012 08:34 PM

How far forward is the driver seat with the kid behind you? lol that looks like you gotta hug the steering wheel

Khyron686 06-23-2012 09:11 PM

5'7" with 30" inseam, I'd say it's 1 click forward from where I'd have it empty.

F-Bomb 06-23-2012 09:17 PM

Cool cuz ive been wondering about that cuz I plan on hopefully getting the car and a certain someone I live with got me all worried about the space back there haha. Thank you for giving me a perfect picture to throw in her face :D now all I'm worried about is the first year having to face it backwards >.<

baldolera 06-23-2012 09:20 PM

Getting a small 2-door coupe for a family with two kids. YOLO

We have a 2nd car. The problem is the strollers and stuff. Kids would be miserable back there for long road trips - but for going to the store or dinner is fine.

Drewd 06-23-2012 10:15 PM

Congrats! Glad you're enjoying it (hope the rest of the fam is, too). Great pic of the kids in the back seat.

The solution is to buy the wife a nice family sedan, suv, or van and have the fr-s as your practical commuter car. I've wasted too many years buying large family sized cars and then ending up taking the wife's car for family excursions anyway. Never again will I make that mistake!

Bingo. The BRZ is my daily driver and I'm able to do errands with our two boys. When we all go somewhere together, we'll take my wife's car.

Bonburner 06-24-2012 02:06 PM

Hahaha awesome.
I drove my younger sister and a friend, this car can seat 3 people without too much difficulty.
The passenger seat just needs to be pulled up a bit more and you're set to go really.

Crap I forgot about that >.< we each have our own cars but she has a cobalt ss and she's as stubborn as me lol

bestwheelbase 06-24-2012 06:03 PM

Terrific! Good to see someone using their car to haul the family around.

eindio 06-24-2012 07:39 PM

I'm in Vegas now @ the pool we went 4 hours with my son in the back he's 7 and he was comfy. The wife is 5'3 so he has room, around town I've been carting my mom around also, on comfort she says there's more room in the frs then my camaro. All the valets are taking find on who gets to drive it

Actually, it's more like "Practical family car, my ass!!!!!" :bonk:

I'll be tossing an 11 year old behind the passenger seat and an 8 year old behind the driver seat when I need to drive the kids. No car seats though so it'll be much easier.

EsoBOFH 06-25-2012 01:54 PM

My boys (4 & 2) love riding in Dad's Silver Rocket ship :)

aa_chow 08-01-2015 03:00 PM

This car is better than I thought. I have a bigger car for longer trips, but this is not bad.

Bonus: My 2.8 year old daughter always says "whoa!" every time the engine starts.

I don't pack the grandkids behind me after I realized it's probably not safe for them to sit cross-legged. Have yours outgrown the back seat by now?

Well, they have "outgrown" the car seats ......... whick makes more room, however, now their legs are longer!

Since grandma retired and our 4 door sedan is usually here ...... we use that to transport the granddaughters most all of the time.

Besides, the sedan gives them more room for their backpacks, child cell phones, water bottles, room to take off their shoes and dump out the trash, larger windows to smear up, latest art project, snacks and the rest of the 50 pounds of "stuff" they pack around.......:)

I don't fold their legs...i am not that tall and my seats don't go all the way back...their legs don't touch the back

That's what we do. My 14-y-o sits in the back. His feet have to go under the front seat, but he does fine for 45 minute long trips.

"You kids settle down back there and quit fussing, or I'm going to run the seat back again ...... :eyebulge:".

That WAS one spooky movie ..... :paddle:

Back on topic. Hint for you parents/grandparents who are or are considering transporting small children in the back seat of your FR-S/BRZ.

Have a supply of pacifiers, baby bottles, extra security blankets, baby rattles, gum, snacks, water bottles and tissues, within easy reach of your position in the front seat.

Then, practice your "over the shoulder" toss into the back seat.

Now, if you don't know what I'm talking about ...... you will, if you put small children back there ...... :D

When you switch to boosters, I recommend the Clek line (ollie, ozzi), they are super compact, easy to hook in place, and memory foam keeps butts comfy.

My 4 y.o. boy sits cross legged and has plenty of room; he doesn't complain but it helps that he likes to ride in the BRZ. I take his shoes away and there's a towel under the booster, though...trust only goes so far with kids *wink*

I do that in our RAV4. That is just life with kids in the back seat. Haha
