Black Tips

Still trying to decide upon a full exhaust system, but the OEM tips had to go. They just look too small. Picked these up at the local Pep Boys.

Nice! You have a part #? I was looking for something very similar to that put hadn't tried Pep Boys yet.

WRB-DZA-BRZ 06-22-2012 04:25 PM

Not sure if I like the shape, but I love the color!

Draco-REX 06-22-2012 04:31 PM

Very stealth. They look good with the underspoiler too.

86design 06-22-2012 04:34 PM

ME LIKE!!

Turbowned 06-22-2012 04:57 PM

I like 'em! Didn't think I would when I read the thread title. Those fill the holes nicely and don't call attention to themselves. Nice find!

Calidrifter 06-22-2012 05:09 PM

Iirc if they are the DC Sport ones the number is 1101b (letter designates color).

zoomzoomers 06-22-2012 05:26 PM

Very nice! I like the color and the way they fill out the gaps.

mechaghost 06-22-2012 05:34 PM

I like them too! I didnt think black would go well, but it sure does

ahausheer 06-22-2012 06:07 PM

I like this. Color matches perfectly. Nice mod. Its hard to mod cars and have it actually look better than stock.

Fly Guy 06-22-2012 06:12 PM

Really looks nice! Black goes so well.

zoomzoomers 06-22-2012 06:13 PM

How much did these cost? If they're fairly cheap I think I might have to get them while I decide on a catback system for later. Did they just bolt on? How hard/easy was the install?

Dimman 06-22-2012 06:25 PM

Soooo much better than burnt tips.

WillieRX 06-22-2012 06:27 PM

Not bad.

Looks like these. $25 each. They shall be mine I believe.

Edit: FoolCyclist posted the exact ones below. This is not the tip you are looking for...

Calidrifter 06-22-2012 07:38 PM

There are those and i believe some with an angle cut as well. Both are 25.

In exactly the same boat. Title made me think the worst and then I saw them and they look great.

markmatley 06-22-2012 08:57 PM

No pepboys here, maybe I should look at checker or O-reilleys. Great looking tips!

Mild2Wild 06-22-2012 09:39 PM

Just did the regular 1010 ones from DC today. What an easy install and looks so much better! Wish Advance had these stealth ones...they look mighty tempting.

mechaghost 06-23-2012 12:18 AM

picked a pair up! too bad they dont ship as I have to drive over to one of their stores :(

$30 each. They use three 10mm bolts to secure to the stock pipe. Its a super easy swap out, just takes some time to get em evened up perfect. I was thinking of going with round, but these seemed to fill the cut outs a little better. I was a little worried how it would look, but I think it turned out great.

Wow, FR-S tips are tiny! you should see the size of AUS 86, they are enourmous!

rikdrt1 06-23-2012 02:26 AM

LOOK COOL. I may try the stainless ones jsut cause i think it will look ok on my black car... or try both --
your BRZ looks great...

Thanks. These are different obviously, than the ones I found. I'll have to check out both.

2pt5RS 06-23-2012 10:59 AM

These are similar to the ones I was looking at at Pep Boys. thanks for the pics! That helps in showing what they look like on the car.

russv 06-23-2012 12:10 PM

Do like!

neutron256 06-23-2012 04:11 PM

Excellent find. I decided I had to do this myself, and went out and picked up a set this morning.

Add me to the list! We're going to skew the Pep Boys inventory tracking. :happyanim:

My local PB only had one is stock, so they've ordered the second one for me and will be in tomorrow. Will install then and post some compare photos.

I ended up getting the oval/flat ones like the original OP, neutron, looks like you got the round ones, is that correct?

I liked all three, but they let me take them out to the car and I thought the 1017B filled the whole a little better.

mezdup 06-23-2012 08:02 PM

These don't really increase horsepower and sound output right? They're just bolt on haha..

Yeah I thought about the oval ones but I they had a larger inlet and I wanted to match it as close as I could on the inlet side. They only had one in stock at the Pep Boys I went to as well, but they were nice enough to call around and have another local store set one aside for me.

A little large might be nice but I still really like the look.

They must, it even says so on their website! :bellyroll:

  • Resonated tips are to enhance sound output
  • Increase Horsepower
I'm sure it makes it sound like a P-51 and adds at least 60HP.

well, either that or it only improves the look (assuming its a look you like).

I liked all of them too, don't think you could go wrong with any of them.

mashal 06-23-2012 09:59 PM

@IceCreamMan
Please post them here , I'd love to see them!

Calidrifter 06-24-2012 12:11 AM

i did this today also. i bought both the black and stainless - and decided on the stainless -- i have the RAVEN/BLK so it looks fine that way i think. since my rear diffuser already matches the car color -- the contrast is nice.....

i didnt think id be putting any pep boys things on my FR-S .. but these are pretty nice and alot better than the tin cans that came out today ....

What do you mean you did also? That would mean you used the pep boys? But then you say you didn't 😳
